Hey,

I'm doing an entrepreneurship project in school, and I'm looking for some green screen backgrounds for pictures. I'm on a fairly low budget, but I'm okay with spending some money. I'm looking for royalty-free photos with a wide variety of pictures. I need a little bit of everything rather than a lot of a bit. Thanks for your help!

So you're looking for photos to use as your background, not for actual greenscreens?

You can use any photos you want. If you've got a camera, just go shoot some stuff yourself - it's surprising how much variety you can find just around where you live. Alternatively you can use sites such as iStockPhoto.com to find more exotic stuff. In fact, you don't even need to use photos - any image will work, if you want to get a bit more abstract.

Thanks for the help. I'm looking for the pictures to use in Photokey, as backgrounds to green screen photos. What I really want is shots of rock concerts, or sunsets, or standing beside a celebrity, where I can place a person in. I've checked out www.iStockphoto.com, but it doesn't have collections. (Most of the time buying photos individually is more expensive)

If you're happy to give credit to the photographer then you could use any of the millions of creative commons photos in flickr. Check them out here

http://www.flickr.com/creativecommons/

They're free to use, but make sure you read the license. You won't able to use the ones with the "No Derivative Works" clause, as you'll be modifying the images when you add your foreground.

Thanks malone! I can't believe I didn't think of that. Would I be allowed to make money off of them legally? Would I need to contact the owner to do that? Or would I just not be able to?

There's 6 different types of creative commons license. Some allow you to make money off the photos and some don't. So you will need to be careful about which ones you choose.

Basically, you won't be able to use the ones with the "Noncommercial" clause. But you should always read the entire license anyway, and make sure you abide by all the clauses.
