Hey guys!

As many of you know, as sort of a throwback to the fun of our Splinter Cell fanfilm days, we've decided to turn our first Batman effort from last fall into an all-out trilogy of sorts.

So as the production on the second film wraps up and goes into post-production and the teaser trailer for it is released, we move on into ideas and the plot (essentially pre-production) for the third and final film. And where that starts, villain casting choices begin. Here are the villains from the first two films, the Joker and Clayface, respectively.

So, I thought it'd be fun to open the movie-creation up to you guys, see what you'd like to see us work at; what villain(s) to tackle and Batman characters/gadgets/things you'd like to see. Any suggestions or desires, hit us up.

If you want, please vote in the poll of villains, suggest your own, and give us some ideas! We're all-ears!

If I were you I would do Mr. Freeze or Catwoman. They are both classic characters and would be fun to do. I would be really interested in seeing you do a Mr. Freeze as your specialty isn't normally special effects and he can have some cool effects. However catwoman is a good match for batman, fighting skills wise and I would love to see how you choreograph your fight between the two.

Oh I didn't see the bad gadget thing there so I will request a couple. I would love to see you guys use bolas. Oh and of course batarangs. It would be cool to do some smoke bombs too.

i chose Mr.Freeze, cause I wanna see how you guys make him. no other reason. Plus he's a cool villain. My second choice would be black mask.

Mr. Freeze or The Penguin for sure, I think they were the most recognizable characters to me when I used to watch the cartoons, they seemed to be the only villains that really affected, connected and showed how Batman changes and what he becomes. They both seem to have been the really "main" evil characters that appeared the most often.

For the gadget, some cool slow mo 3D bat-rang action would be cool. I really wanted to see the new bat-rangs fly, but Nolan only used it once.

Or a motocycle would be cool too. I'm guessing you are already using the grappling gun. Smoke bombs are good too.

I'd say Mad Hatter. I'd say he is a bigger opportunity for an interesting story and dialogue.

Heh, I voted Bane, but obviously only if you can find someone with such build (which can be hard), or are very skilled in costuming/compositing wink

And so the hype begins!!!

Don't even think about doing Catwoman unless you know a girl that would actually work in the suit.

Anyway, what happened to Two Face in that list? And The Riddler?

I can't help but feel that an awful lot of Batman's enemies are completely, utterly ridiculous. Crazy villains work fine in the superhero titles that feature a crazy hero (super powered alien! spider powered human! fastest man on earth! etc), but trying to mix Killer Croc with Batman (rich boy turns vigilante) is just bizarre.

Like I said, we're going 'throwback' with our return to fanfilms for a short time. But of course, the hype comes with that. And be honest, you know you love it. wink

Anyway, what happened to Two Face in that list? And The Riddler?
Two-Face and The Riddler have both been done before in the films, and unlike our movie 'The Dark Knight Returns', the second and third film are supposed to function on their own with (semi) original characters. Or, at least characters that haven't been major in the recent films.

Oh, I'd definitely agree. Although having done Clayface, I'm pretty happy with the overall feel/look of the face-off, and am willing to open up to other, more ridiculous, characters because of that. I'm not terrible familiar with the DC/Batman universe, so I thought opening it up to the community would yield some better, more realistic ideas/villain choices.

Oh, and Xcession, I'd be happy to include you as a villain. Just fly over here, and we'll set up shooting dates. biggrin

I think Ben really had his heart set on a specific villain, and our creative differences led me to open the choice up to the FXHome community.

Oh, and churn the ol' cogs on the hype machine. Gotta bring the staggering viewership on here back up to the prime days. smile

I think The Penguin would be a good choice. Costuming is easy, casting shouldn't be too hard. Since this is an "Atomized" spin-off of Nolan's work, I understand you are looking for a somewhat grounded approach, especially considering your small budget. The Penguin isn't difficult to pull off if handled soberly. I'm something of a Penguin fanboy, though, so no reason to listen to my slobbering.

Black Mask, hands down. This is a villain that isn't really been explored yet, and I'd be really interested to see how you guys would bring him to life, especially after seeing your Clayface suit. That and he's awesome.

I'd go with Mr Freeze.

Thinking about it, I think he could even be a dark horse competitor for the next Nolan film... here's why.

I totally agree with Tarn's comments that Batman villains by and large are rather ridiculous and don't necessarily suit the mood set by the Nolan films.

However with Mr Freeze you could potentially play him as a psychopathic Cryogenicist, a man who lures, captures and freezes his victims. Maybe a man who has some deranged obsession with the cold too... spends his life in a walk in freezer (should be easy to get a location sorted for that if you're connected to any restaurant owners).

That would bring him into play, but in a believable way. Plus the serial killer angle would really open up the detective side of Batman.

Anyway, enough of me telling you what to do. Freeze gets my vote!

Deadshot, he could take out Bat's from a distance.
Also Nightwing... not so much as a villian but it'd be cool to see them duke it out since they're always having father son type issues.
Superman on red K.
Shiva. ouch, she's a better fighter.

Mr. Freeze seems to be the majority decision, so I think we'll go for that at least as a minor character if not the primary villain. Ideas on how to do it have been helpful as well

Any other suggestions?

Atom - have you guys read any of the Gotham Central comics? The way they portray the Batman villains has always been fantastic. As the comics aren't about Batman but the Gotham police force, it force the writer to approach the villains from a less fantastical and more grounded point of view.

Mr Freeze, for example, I'd always considered to be a bit of a ludicrous villain, until he appeared in Gotham Central. The cops accidentally walk in on him in the middle of an operation, and by god is it scary. Makes you realise that even the slightly campy and OTT villains would be DAMN SCARY if a normal, everyday person (even a cop) bumped into them.

Worth a look. Freeze shows up in the first collected volume.

I've never looked into the Gotham Central comics, Tarn. They sound pretty intriguing, though. Especially for root material for the character. Thanks.

Are you crazy or something!? What is wrong with you?! If the world blew up, there wouldn't be a point to anything that ever happened in this world. Seriously, what the heck man? Sometimes I think you are a messed up person Bolbi.

Anyways, how could you want the world to blow up just once? Do you really think it would reconstruct itself? Wowwww....

biggrin

In regards to the topic, I think you guys ought to choose whatever villain that you can realistically recreate in a film. I voted Killer Croc because he's cool, but he'd be a tough character to emulate. Just please don't do Catwomen...

There's no way to say it without ruining it, but I've definitely read a comic book where part of the world did blow up.

And FreshMentos, I only really listed villains I think are achievable. We didn't think we could necessarily even consider Clayface, but we tried it and think onscreen the results are pretty convincing. smile
