So you've added in a logo that *probably* wasn't created by the person who submitted it and you've actually added stuff too it as well?

Well that immediately loses my vote, I like B3N's moody looking yet informative logo. Although sadly it appears that he is being done over by a facehugger.

Refresh studios and Potential Gamer are probably my favourite two, both are nice clean and eye catching. Leg1on's is also very good and possibly the most artistic on here but just a little bit too messy and unfocused for my liking.

Hmmmm...

If PsFreak gets a nominee for a "logo" that consists of a picture he did not make and text he did not add... this is the most retarded contest ever.

Cool, so I'm getting rated down for something you're agreeing with and acting on.

If it's for the word "retarded", I constantly use the word without implying any reference to mentally disabled people. See Latin origin, slow i.e. not well thought out.

So then it could have just been a "see who can dig up the prettiest picture online" competition?

When I've found a good resolution shot of the Mona Lisa I'll be back.

If I could take that post into my account I would, but I don't know how to export forum posts. Or did you want me to take it into my account and not anyone else? If so where in my account do you want me to put it?

Sadly? that hand did me the best plamfacehug ever! Also it's my sarcastic response to my friends who go "Rawr!" whilst clawing you. smile

I like the judging criteria for picking the nominees, as outlined in ricam's last post:

-Consitant (What?)
-Good Logo
-Humbleness
-Coolness

Glad only one of the 4 criteria points actually has to do with the logo itself.

This thread is seriously just as baffling as the "Best website" one was. I would only consider two of the options to be "logos" at all. The rest are just text on an image.

I did make it myself using my own methods, and I only used the original source. I just like stealing ideas hehe. I do agree it shouldn't be added, however. If you don't believe me though, I can send you multiple images with a worth1000 sign on them from my account.

Ricam -

You've been told before, but it seems I have to tell you again: DO NOT DOUBLE POST.

If you have something to add to a thread after you've just posted, just edit your last post; adding two or three posts every time you have something to say is just plain annoying.

Thanks.

Hehe. Frankly I'm utterly baffled that the 'I AM TARN' image is one of the nominees.

Maybe now that the FXhome Awards are over we can get back to actual debates rather than a series of bizarre 'best of' polls. smile

In the PotentialGamer logo, I'm not sure I like the minuscule neck on the guy in the "A"... have you tried just giving him a shorter and thicker neck, or no neck at all? Seems to me like just sticking a normal guy there would still work, as the basic A shape would still exist (albeit looking more like an upside down V) but with a less freaky person inside.

Something like this, but better:

That'd make more sense... looks a bit odd in that it's a cutout of a 3D object, then. It's like the base should be smaller.

I guess it could be seen as a feature that it can look like a joystick, a person and a floppy.

I'd say it's quite obvious that it's a joystick (hence the 'gamer' title) and that it works perfectly just as that. In fact, although I don't see really any flaws in it being a joystick, as the slender neck before the circle makes it abundant what it is!

This could, obviously, just be me, though. biggrin

Yes, its patently meant to be a joystick. The thick base, narrow neck and comically un-ergonomic ball are pretty much a universally identifiable image of the Ball Handle Leafswitch Joystick, which itself is an icon in gaming from the 80 in particular, but in 'retro' nostalgia too.

PotentialGamer is meant to be a more adult approach to gaming, if possible. If it were aimed at today's "yoof", I'm sure i'd have based the logo on this
or perhaps we'd have just called the site "HaloLOL!" rolleyes

Note to self. Never image google 'amazing joystick' with safe-search off again

Point taken, I must just have too vivid of an imagination. And while I'm only 19, there's no need to lecture me on the neverending clash between old and new, especially in gaming. I've played my fair share of NES, SNES and Atari, but I can also enjoy a good game of Halo every now and then, although I prefer L4D over it any day.

On a slightly related note, though, my friend has that joystick. It's ridiculously useless razz
