Thanks again to everybody that voted in our 'How new is your computer?' poll a couple of weeks ago. The results give us a good indication of where the community is at with their editing setups.

We've created the FXhome Hardware Test to take a closer look at Windows PCs. If you have the time we would really appreciate you downloading the Hardware Test and running it on your machine.

Click here to download the FXhome Hardware Test.

Instructions: Download the zip file, extract its contents, then run HardwareTest.exe.

Vista users: You may see a security warning when running the test. This is normal, simply click 'Run' to continue.

How does it work? The FXhome Hardware Test asks for your email address, then when you press the 'Start Test' button it analyses your computer and automatically sends the results to FXhome.

Why do you want my email address? We ask for an email address so that we can contact you about your system if we have any questions. In the future we may also ask if you could test our future products. Your email address will not be used for marketing purposes and will absolutely not be given to any third parties!

Is the test safe? All the test does is read a few stats off your machine and send the information directly to FXhome. Other than your email address no personal information is included.

Am just curious does this test show the information that is being sent to you or do we have no idea what you are being told about our computers?

You do get to see the results of the test which are being sent back to FXHome, just normal stuff about your hardware, graphics card and monitor set up.

Cheers,

We love Mac users! In fact I am a Mac user myself...

Macs have a fairly fixed hardware range, so we dont really need to create a Mac test at the moment. PC's on the other hand have infinite configurations out there.

Basically, we didn't make a Mac test because we don't need one - we already have the information we need!

I hope that you don't feel left out smile

No, I was joking! It's so hard to write humor on a post, can't see the face.

That test wont run unless the computer is connected to the internet.

Instead you can just add some computer information to this forum topic as a new post.

We are interested this information:

* How much RAM your computer has
* What graphics card you have
* What operating system you run
* What processor you have
