There's some debate in the office at the moment regarding the light spill filter in PhotoKey and PhotoKey 2 Pro. As you know, the filter is designed to create more realistic composites by having the background light interact with the edges of the foreground. Every version of PhotoKey has applied light spill automatically.

The debate is: Should the light spill filter be turned on by default?

What do you think? Let us know in the poll and in the comments....

I voted yes, as I almost always use some light spill when compositing in Photokey. I generally find that I end up turning it down a bit though, so perhaps a default setting a bit lower would be the ticket.

Hey,
I dont actually have this product as im into the video side of things but how about simply adding a checkbox in PhotoKey's options/preferences to have it enabled or disabled as default, that way, each of your customers can take their pick - Everyone's happy, no ?

Just an idea

Thanks for the feedback guys. From the poll it looks like there's no clear cut answer!

pscamm - PhotoKey doesn't actually have any 'preferences' to set, so there isn't a logical place to put a setting like that. The other problem is that putting stuff like that into 'preferences' can be considered a bit of a cop-out. It's almost like us saying "well, we couldn't figure it out, so we just gave up and put it in prefs." razz

Tarn,
I find myself on unbiased ground here or maybe just uneducated ref Photokey, I see what you mean but the same debate in your office seem's to exist in the community too with a very close 41% to 58%.

Now to my mind, if your poll result was 3% to 97% in favour of having it enabled then it's a pretty obvious conclusion.

I would never see anything done in software as a 'cop out', more a challenge to find a way to satisfy everyone when the opinions are so close.

Hey, you could use this as the '2009 ultimate FxHome challenge' razz

Sorry, im going to shut up now *L*

eek razz eek

Hey, you all do a fantastic job by the way and your community loves you for it

Regards

I voted no... if I download PhotoKey demo again it may be annoying as I like to do that myself.

This poll is kind of existing to determine what is best. Which one do you think is better?

I think he meant so it switches the light spill to what's best for each specific image. Though I don't really know how it would do that.
