In a rather unprecedented move, we just launched eleven new products – yes, eleven. Massively expanding our stock collection, the new products introduce a wide range of video and image DVDs to enhance your movies and photographs.

Backdrop packs

Completely new and exclusive, the three Backdrop packs each contain 100 striking, high resolution images that are perfect for using with the FXhome PhotoKey products. Each pack is available for just $29.99.

All three packs are also available in a special Backdrop Bundle for a reduced price of $75.

Special effects footage

The FXhome stock footage collection has now been expanded to include a wide range of practical special effects, including blood, explosions, smoke and sparks. All video clips are in high definition 720p and are provided in both NTSC and PAL formats so that you can drop them straight into your projects.

All packs are compatible with all good compositing software, including FXhome CompositeLab Pro and VisionLab Studio, and are available for just $34.99 each.

We've updated the products section to include video previews so that you can see what you'll be getting.

Is the 'Special effects footage' dvd just a collection of the new dvd's?

Yes, the Footage:special effects DVD is a sampler of the others, plus the old AlamDV2 library.

So basically this is an expanded version of the special effects DVD? Okay. I LOVE YOU GUYS!!! FXHOME RULES!!

Just one question. This is probably a stupid question, but you can move the footage around the canvas, right? It doesn't just appear on the screen and get stuck there?

FXhome is the awesomest of the sweesomes. (Horrible grammatical travesty. I should kill myself.)

Yeah, you can manipulate the stock footage like you would any other video clip. Any decent compositing program and even some standard editing programs will be able to do that without any problems.

Okay thanks.

Oh and one more question. Just how large is the selection in each pack? Just an estimate, please.

You can slow them down on your own, in an NLE pre- or post-haste to adding effects.

I agree with Movie Kid that slo mo would be really awesome.

The first one I would get would probably be the explosion pack, then the gore or blood pack. I really want to make some dramatic gunfight movies, and these will really help.

Hey guys, I was thinking of getting solthar's super stock pack this summer, is your guys' stuff different, and could I get both yours and his and get two completely different things or are they the same stuff as what he already has (plus alamdv2 plugins)?

The new stock packs look ok, except most of the footage goes outside the frame. I know its hard to keep smoke, fire, and stuff that goes boom from traveling outside the frame, but its a must to really benifit from stock footage effects.

It's not 'a must', but you certainly want some clips to be entirely in-frame. The various stock packs tend to have a mixture, some being full frame, others being entirely in-frame. Having both is useful - if everything was entirely in-frame, it'd end up being tiny and not very useful for lots of compositing situations.

Variety is the key.

Agreed, I ment for the most part. I personaly like my explosions, sparks, and fire to stay in frame, and I scale up as I need to. But please don't take my comments as any disrespect for your products, I think you guys did a great job, I was just giving some feedback for future products.

The explosions and sparks do stay in frame, all of them. Not sure where you see otherwise (if so, the demovideo might be off, not the actual clips).

Thanks for pointing that out, because the demo don't do the effects justice. Its always good to hear from the source of the footage.
Keep up the good work Sollthar.

But then it wouldn't be 25/30 frames per second, and would therefore not look too good. But I guess there's not really a big marked for slow motion stock footage.

Of course it is.

It's got an alpha channel and that means you can key out the black background leaving only the effect. So yeah. smile

Does this mean the death of FXVault? Or its early beginnings? I've been waiting for it for years since it was first announced. Would be cool for users to be able to sell their own stock (along with FXHome, of course!) and offer them as digital downloads.

The stock footage don't have alpha, you need to key them. It's a pretty simple process though.

Could we get a discount if we bought all of the fx packs. It's been mentioned that these packs are available elswhere, albeit as a download only, and so would be a good incentive to purchase from your good selves.

I'm looking at building up an extensive library of stock footage, Yes I'm going to include yours . Detonation films have good ones also, do you guys know of any others?

Our versions have NTSC and PAL versions of the clips ready to go, plus of course you get them on an actual physical disc in a super sexy box, hence the price difference.

It's entirely up to you where you purchase them from though. smile
