Is it possible to loop a layer in the timeline? If e.g. I have an animation of a ball going up and down and I want it to go up and down again and again. Do I need to copy the layer again and again? So that I'll have so many layers with the same animation?

You can't loop a layer of video, no. What I wold do is create a longer clip of the loop either in the animation software or in my video editor, so it is set up to last as long as I need it to, and then import that clip into CompositeLab for the compositing work.
