I'm looking for some type of effect for energy being gathered into a central point like in "The Force Unleashed." One effect I know of that looks great is the Laser Sparks preset effect. I know how to make it continuous, but it expands outward and I want it to be reversed. Any suggestions, or could someone throw an effect like that together? Coloration is fine, the distortion can be done with the displacement map.

You mean this?

There is a rather crude way; take the shot in reverse, then use a particle effect accordingly and do all you want to do, only backwards to correspond to the shot. Once in your video editor, reverse the video and you will have this effect.

But if you don't want to do that, then just use neon light or something and use grading/composite filters to touch it up.

Yes, that's the effect I would like. I know about putting the effect in reverse, but animating like that is a little tricky. I'll have to do some tests, but if there's another way I'd like to see it done.

Suggestion: I like to use a raw effect, instead of presets. Easier to start from scratch. But I think the sparks texture is good for this, as the particles in TFU move at about the same relative speed. I actually tried this once; didn't do so good. The main problem being that they used a 3D engine for it.
