I feel like some of you guys think that I am an idiot but for all of your information I am only thirteen (wow, like you guys really care) and just so you know I am not going to write as much as that other guy who seems to be really cool who has his biography on the same page actually it is only going to be about a paragraph so enjoy! or not.

I am thirteen years old and I live in California near LA. I am just getting started with alamdv and I'm getting pretty good at adding effects to my films. The video editing system that I use is Pinnacle studio 7 (the cheapest one that I could find) my computer has about 111 gigabytes of file space and I am just learning how to make plugins.
(Note; this short crappy biography was in no way inspired by that other guy.) I know that you guys will probably think that I was stupid to write this but I just wanted you to get to know me a little bit. thanks whether you read this or not.

Anyone aged 13yrs. who can find their way around computer video editors
and special f/x apps. should be extremely proud of their achievements.
You've certainly earned my respect, I've been struggling for what seems a lifetime.

Keep it up it is a very rewarding hobby....(except in my case). lol lol lol

1007 - Welcome to the community. And don't worry about your age, I wish I had been seriously trying to learn about filmmaking when I was your age.

I made a couple shorts for school when I was 13, but then I didn't do movie stuff for years. I think I started writing scripts around 20, and did my first short at like 22.

And having a wolrdwide community of knowlage to draw from can be very handy. lol

And 111 Gigs! I really, really envy you. I'm working off a measly 9 gigs. It takes a long long time to edit a 2-hour movie on a 9 gig macine. A very long time... unsure

Believe me I know. I myself actually had a 6 gig machine before I got my new computer and when I edited films (before having alamdv) it was just about as fun as going to a six hour long algebra class all through your summer vacation. And it was about as pointless as a mute person being in a choir. but that was my old computer.

lol, 1007. Don't become a Bill GATES! Stay on the good side -the non-microsoft side smile

I didn't get "good" at computers till age 14 (maybe 13). I guess I had an early start at computer before that though (lucky me), started using them at age 5 or somethin, this is like my 5th computer (my uncle always give me his old ones, i never bother paying for them, 'cept my iMac). I remember AOL 3.0, and what are they at now? 8.0? lol.

I would never want to be bill gates because even though he may have all the money in the world he is stilll seems like a very strange man. but he did make all of the stuff that I use hence my xbox and windows so I am not going to bad mouth him. but he is still strange.

Yeah av, I was the same way biggrin. I remember my mom buying the first pentium, and taking it home. She spent hours in those aol chats, and I was curious about how it worked. After a little bit of time, I learned my ways around the proverbial 'world wide web'. I was 8 years old, and could pass off as an 18 year old easily. Then I started getting in to making my own movies. I first learned how to do cheap special effects when I was 7, and I'd make a karate movie by doing start/stop on the camera and making me move around really fast. I though it was the coolest thing in the world. At about 11, I learned to add music, by putting my audio input cable into my CD player, which was a huge step for me. If only I would of known the people I'd meet, and the things I would be pulling off later. Huge ships, mutliple me's, the whole shabang cool

hmmmmmmm, i must say, i am 16 now, my first computer was an old mac, didn't really like it much, had that for a few years, wasn't really into them, but then i got a pc 2 years ago (from my parents, for my gcse exams - 2 years of important work that i needed a pc for) so i had my first pc, that went wrong couple of times, and i have one fo schwar's old ones, which is now just a sloaw assed biatch, i was into making computer games at first, didn't have the net till 2 years ago, and then i wanted to go into webdesign/programming but now, i am into 3d modelling, but i aint amazing at that yet, i am still a n00b in my opinion, i know a bit of everything, but not enough of one particular thing to avoid n00bosity...

anyway, i was only gonna make it short, so that's a little debriefing of my life of computers smile

is that me that you're referring to? thanx! biggrin

i know i wrote a heap, but in other forums i often lurk for a long while before posting - i like to post quality, not quanitity - so then when i go to post, sometimes i feel silly talking to ppl that i know so well from their posts, who don't know me at all... so i thought i'd fix that!

in my intro i mentioned that i shot a film with some friends... the youngest of the group (and in my opinion the most talented) is only 13. he plays a small but important role in the flick, and he did a great job - behind the camera as well....

anyway, for those hanging out for it, i've converted everything to dv1 (that panasonic codec), ready for editing.... i do want to do a great job on this, tho, so it'll be a while.... hence: would anybody be interested in a short trailer (30 sec, or so)?

i write too much, don't i? wink

anyway, welcome, 1007 and don't feel weird or anything, about posting - everyone here is really cool about everyone else, so it's nice and friendly!

laters all,
cmetom
