Ive downloaded a large amount detonation films effects but i need help with their stock footage. The background of some of them are either blue or white which becomes a problem for me because i cant put them into my movies without the blue or the white showing up. The black backround seems to work. Please respond how to fix this problem or how to turn the background from blue or white to black.
Thanks smile

As far as the blue background, that is ready to be keyed out (ala bluescreen) with Compositelab.

What editing software are you using Shanghai?

If it's something relatively decent like Sony Vegas then it's more than likely there will be a compositing feature included in there.

If it's something basic like Windows Movie Maker than I'm afraid you can't really use the stock footage without having some way of keying out the background.

Hope that helps,

Hoping someone more savvy jumps in at this point and corrects me if I'm wrong....

But what you want to do is head to the Video FX tab and select Chroma Keyer from the list of FX options. Drag and drop the Blue screen version onto your video clip at which point a pop up window will show you a colour palette. You can fine tune the palette to better suit the shade of blue, or even change it to white for your white backgrounds.

Mess around with the low and high threshold options at the bottom to improve the results if need be.

Hope that helps, shout if you are still stuck.
