This is the idea.

the community on here creates a startrek film.
a few people have already agreed to join and make plug ins ( thanks, Greyo, tmm, davlin )
we will try a 5 min film to start.

The people and skills needed for this project are.( there can more more than 1 of each )

director ( a person that will make all this possible by communicating with everyone and will oversee the final product)

story person/s

script writer/s

Plug ins, someone that can create plug ins ( tmm is already up for this ) but anyone else welcome

3D space ship person/s ( to get 3d startrek ships and to make the ships fire and fly in space )

editor/s ( someone that can make a view screen overlay as well )

actors, ( prefer if you had startrek costumes, but might not be important if the script says so )

Sound person ( either someone that composses or is spot on with sound fx. )

thats it, if you think of anything else please add to it, and if your intrested please post a reply stating what it is you want to do with in this film.
( remember it's for fun, )

this could be something that alam can use to promote the alamdv community. ( i have heard of music being done over the internet with people in different countries, but a film would be a worthy write up in any film magazine )

( edit ) a mesh link for startrek
http://trekmeshes.starfleet.ch/
(it's got to be worth a few pages in someones history book )

i can do the plug-ins of the spaceships, as mentioned, and i can do some of the animations for space battles smile using 3ds max, but i would recquire meshes for both, i know where some are, but it would be a great help if someone could compile more, as sorta requests smile

Hey i'd love to become part of this project. I would be willing to help with the story, script, directing, editing and acting. Although i thinks its best to leave the 3d to people like TMM.

I've always wanted to do a Star Trek film after seeing all the Star Wars films outthere but always found it hard doing it on my own. This is a great idea and all props should be given to b4uask30male for coming up with this idea.

This could start a new form of internet film-making

To the Alam Trekies........I wont be able to help in any practical way
as I'm still struggling through manuals and tutorials for some new apps.
I've bought plus I'm also running a project myself which is being held
back whilst I'm climbing this steep learning curve.
I will continue to support this worthy project and who knows I might
even come up with some ideas....mmmmm.

For" b4uask " about the DVD writing...I've looked at the old vids. I was
going to send you and decided that they are too crappy for DVD ,so
I'll wait until I've finished my current project and ask u again if thats o/k.

cheers all.

Just one question: How are you going to send uncompressed video over the net?. I assume TMM is going to mail all the video since he has a *56K* modem?

Well, good luck, hope it works out alright!

good point av11d, i would suggest each cut scene be sent insted of the whole finished battle,
this can then be made back up with the editor.

i notice that tmm is in england, so i have no problem with paying for the dv tapes and postage if needed.

I can make my bits compressed and send them over the net anyway, cos my bits don't need to be edited into other scenes really, do u see what i mean!?!

I would suggest keeping all scenes on DV tapes and send through post
to whoever is going to assemble/edit as "b4uask" is saying.......mmm
problem.....pal/ntsc conversion or is it?

Good point davlin, the film would need to be a standard before we start, either pal or ntsc, the finished product is not a problem as it can be transfered by me if needed ( i run a small duplication company and stardards conversions )

so i guess it depends on how many people are this side of the pond, unless you think one is better than the other.

25 fps or 30 fps. ?

This is a tricky one.......
If "b4" you were assembling, for example, could u convert ntsc 30fps
clips sent to u to pal 25fps before editing takes place.
I think this will have to be resolved asap.

ok, so anything that tmm does can be sent via internet as unedited footage.

i think we should use pal, the will proberly be more using that and when sending dv tapes in england, you would have pal dv camera's/recorders.
so 25 fps it it.

(off subject slightly, i had this idea once to collect all the next gen on dvd, then cut scenes from them to make a whole new episode, i knew the guy a CIC ( distrubtors in hammersmith )Marti smith and he said if it was good enough he would try and put it on a dvd as an extra.
( i don't think i would ever have time, but if any trekkers want to, i could pass all the details, and you would get paid if it was used.

There has to be a way to include all interested parties particularly TMM.
Trouble is I don't have the expertise to sort this one .....can the "brains"
help?.

edit....."b4" got an answer as I was typing........ lol lol lol

right, if you have not objections then i will the one put put the pieces together.

Greyo, davlin & kram1563 if you guys could start on a story, anyone from this point wanting to help out with the story thats no problems either contact me or Greyo, davlin & kram1563

I'll just mark down here the things we would need in the story for it to work across the net.
( while working on this story please email or pm each other and not post on here )(so we don't annoy alamdv.)

we will base it around the next gen time frame.

the communications between officers and other people needs to be through com badges or view screen

a space battle
phaser fire ( alamdv of course )
approx 5 mins in lenght
( i / we can add to this list )

this is just a idea, you don't need to use it.

fade in " return that shuttle at once, that's an order" says the captain of a starship
the shuttle repsonds on screen, " your gonna have to shoot me down captian, i'm not stopping till i get to the planet "

( this idea can bring in the planet, where we down't need bluescreening and starfleet custumes.
thats it for now.
we can do it, let it not be one of though things we all want to finish but never.

( ps. your name could go down in history biggrin )

i could do direct and film some stuff, but i guess if i was to film some stuff i'd end up filming loads of stuff, seeing as the characters would be in alot of the film, and even minor characters would have to interact with the main ones, but maybe.

Dont think this is a serious in fact i think its a comic take on considering its called Star Wreck but the space ships in this look well almost professional! take a look

b4uaskmale30,
another blinder bruv (lol) biggrin
I am definately up for actively helping out in whatever way i can. Ideally, i would like to edit the whole thing, as i have the hardware, (little plagued by minor bugs) but im sure there are better editors in here that maybe able to do a better job than i. If u can send me more details if and when they become available via my email add.

Nice one.

I would like to help out in this project but i wont be getting my new pc till the end of september then i will be getting a new camera after that, i could help out in story line, character profiles, and possible sound effects and maybe music.

Would this short film be based like a trailer for a full film or will it be a complete story or would it be based in so many parts ?

I'll try to help out in anyway possible - Its a great idea you have suggested and will rock when its done biggrin

I'm also from the UK (Manchester) so if you need any help with anything you could easily send to me aswell.

I wish all who are doing this, the best of luck smile

I think its coming along ideas have been decided script is in final stages, after a week or so it should be done, b4uask30male is the man to speak to about it really
