As is customary round here, we wanted to introduce Rikki to the community and so asked him a few questions about where he’s come from and how he got here.
Rikki first found out about us when he spotted our recent job advertisement. “I immediately went to FXhome.com,” he says. “Being somebody that is very interested in both the web and user experience it told me a lot about the company behind the website. I got the impression that this is a forward-thinking and innovative company who understand how to create great products and services.”
Having recently completed a university degree in Web Computing from Kent University Rikki was ideal for our new web developer role and rose to the top of the list of candidates, a position that was solidified when his interview revealed the passion and drive we look for in all employees. “Since touching my first computer at the age of twelve I have been hooked on them ever since,” says Rikki. “I had the option to study traditional computer science but chose to do the web computing course as it also gave me a strong fundamental grounding in multimedia and web based technologies.”
Rikki has arrived at a crucial point, as we’re currently in the process of developing the next generation of our products and services. The knowledge gained from his studies will play directly into several of our new projects. “The computing side of the course covered traditional computer science theory,” he explains, “while the multimedia technology side covered things like web, audio and video technologies along with interaction design.”
There’s lots of hard work ahead and having a bigger team doesn’t necessarily make things any easier, it just makes them faster. “Seeing what people do with products that you have created and the positive feedback you receive from communities has to be the ultimate reward for any professional,” muses Rikki. “This is exactly what I look forward to, making products and services that the community not only create great content with, but also grow to love. Additionally, who wouldn't want to be part of such an exciting and friendly company and community?”
Rikki starts today, so I’m sure you’d all like to give him a big, friendly welcome!
