Pretty cool biggrin

Things I liked: You tried using a greenscreen, and setting up a location other than the floor in your house.Your stop motion animation is not bad, probably better than I can do biggrin

Things I didn't like: The voice overs could use some work, but that kinda stuff is hard to do and comes with time biggrin

I think there was too much stuff going on at once, and it became hard to follow.

Not bad, I would give it a 3 or four out of five biggrin

Maybe if you gave us a little more information in your post about your video, we would be more inclined to use up our next few minutes watching and critiquing you.

From how you presented it it makes it sound like, "Eh, I made a video, watch it, I don't really care..." The info on the youtube page had more stuff then what you posted here.

Making people want to watch it is pretty much how you get views mate...

It was a bad joke. Ignore it. And here he is telling me I'm off topic in another thread. But despite the hugely annoying way he said it, completely incapable of formulating a thoughtful response, he and Bolbi were right. You can't do that. "Where are the replies?"

They're coming. Either that or they aren't. Asking for replies will do very little to help you actually get them. Give us time to watch it; we've got other things on our agenda.

It was an okay movie, but a lot of things seemed to be crashing for no reason at all. The effects were fine, but the voice was hard to understand. A little good thing might be to show a few clips of the tank, and make it obvious that it's about to crash. Basically build up some hype for your joke. Because otherwise it's simply "oops I ran over Anakin duh huh huh."

No. Not so, Richard. Once again.... rolleyes

Asking for replies is perfectly fine- oftentimes one or two threads can somehow go overlooked, and it's understandably frustrating. But saying "where are the replies" is not asking for replies. It's expecting them in an unjustified kind of way that is, well, at least on the surface quite distasteful.

And the lack of effort or care into presenting the link in any sort of intriguing or appealing way, which would make someone want to watch it, just simply isn't there- nor are any of the subsequent response posts to it. Fxhome, like any other place, requires some, not much, but some marketing and intrigue in order to garner views. And if you're not willing to even put a sentence into making me want to watch it, making someone else want to watch it- then.........no one will.

Does that make sense? My post was merely an expression of mimicking you in order to demonstrate just how perplexing and unappealing it can be. Hopefully it gives you some impression- now just imagine that and having to at the same time be wooed into watching something-

I know, not a good combo. smile And that's all I'm saying.

Look very closely at this sentence in relation to what's happening in this thread.

This is hilarious so far, keep it up guys!

Here's my reply, not to your video, but to your marketing technique, posts, and your general attitude in this thread.

Firstly, you didn't even ASK anyone to watch it. You just put it there. With no description other than 'stop motion' and 'lego', and from those descriptive words, I already don't want to watch it. You've, off the bat, made me feel like your video is going to be a crappy, five minute job with no effort into it, because of your lack of description.

This may not be true, but that's how I feel from what you've said, and I'm not even going to bother watching it because of such.

If someone puts down a blank DVD, and says, 'Here's my new movie I did.', people are just going to shrug at them. If they're nice enough, they may ask what it's called, or what it's about, but most will just shrug. If, then, you wait five minutes and say 'where are the comments?!' People will probably get up and leave.

Then, demanding people watch the video, or you'll injure them with an incorrectly spelt weapon makes you a person people don't want to talk to or be near. You're expecting people to just WATCH your video, then comment on it, with no information on it. No, the world does not work like that. You don't go to a restaurant, look at the menu, see 'Standard Steak, $15.' and order it. You want to know what SORT of steak it is, how it's cooked, are there any sauces, what does it come with, etc.

I'm irritated enough by what you've done not only to post, but to tell you to go away, learn a thing or two about marketing, get a better attitude, expect less of people, and then come back.

Then, and only then, will people want to consider watching your creation.

Heh. "You can't hurt me with that, it's not spelt correctly!"

Additionaly, 'Storm troopers vs. clone troopers and Anikan-geonises' is a pretty random title. What are 'Anikan-geonises'? I presume they have something to do with Anakin Skywalker (mis-spelled again), but beyond that I'm clueless.

As others have said, to encourage people to take the time to watch your work you need to put the time in yourself as well.

- Check spelling for typos
- Include a brief but effective description of the video's content
- Explain why your video is different and worth watching
- Maybe include a bit of info about yourself or the making of the video
- Show that you'll be very appreciative of any feedback

You're absolutely right Tarn. If you're not going to put time into your work to make it marketable, then why should we put our time into watching said video?

At least spell the title correctly-I'm with Tarn, no idea what that meant. I imagine it has something to do with Anikan Skywalker and Geonosians, perhaps?

You have to tell us what we are going to watch. How do we know what it is supposed to be, and how to judge it? Is it a comedy supposed to be taken as such? Is it a demo reel? Is it an effect test that you want advice on? An actual film that you want comments/ reviews on? Until these questions are answered, I won't be watching it, sorry.

As Tarn said, just tell us a little about yourself. Are you doing this Proffessionally ? Just for a hobby? A teenager having fun? Our judging will vary depending on which of the above you are. If you claim to be pro, and have crappy film, you're going to hear about it, simply because you claim to be professional- the critique will be harsher than if you're doing this for fun.

See, just a little more effort, and you'll get better results!

Cheers
DV

It's storm troopers vs. clone troopers and Anikan-geonises. Geonises is were they are, If spelled it wrong please tell me it's supposed to be the planet that they have the battle on in episode 2 of star wars.

Has anyone else actually watched the video? Everyone's so busy arguing about why they shouldn't watch it, that no one's realized it's only 20 seconds long, and not going to take the hours and hours out of your busy days that you all seem to think it is. I'm assuming some of you have spent at least a few minutes writing posts in this topic, it will take less than half that time to click the link, watch it, and be done with it forever. rolleyes

And for a 20 second lego stop motion, it's not a bad diversion. Click the link, give this guy his views, then if you really don't like it, you can trash him for being annoying.

Aculag - you have a point there of course, but for the record, topic's title as it is formulated is a major turn off for me... Really, that's primarily why I didn't commment on the movie in the first place. That's my case.

And I write that for information purposes - it's a potential viewers feedback wink

Alex - to me it was more of an effect test, then a short film. The fight wasn't really impressive, it just "was". Framerate could certainly be better, and you have one or two places when the movie "jumps" (0:13), which is awkward. Dunno if you have any software for voice processing, but at the very least you could try findng someone who would do the voices for you, to make them sound better. Oh, and Anakin stands stragenly still, before being run over.

So yeah, that would basically be my feedback here. I assume you are going to do an extended version in the future, and that was only a test drive? Because as I said (wrote...), there's not much happening here.

This thread has really made me chuckle.

Alex - Not a bad attempt if this is your first go at Stopmotion. A couple of things to work on would be preventing set bumping. Tape stuff down if you don't want it to move around when animating figures around.

Have a couple of light sources as well to prevent any shadows on your set as they can be a killer when keying.

Film at anything above 15fps.

Cheers

Hey that was good. I have seen some real terrible stop motion videos on youtube, but yours has good animation it was great but not perfect. Still some little things you could fix.
