Pencil and Eraser?

I was curious, but in trying to learn the ins and outs of Effects Lab, I came across the symbol of a pencil and eraser on the tool bar. It said it was to draw (or erase) on the key frame. I guess I could have tried to look this up myself elsewhere (or just try it), but I thought the easiest way was to ask the experts on the forum how this would be used.

The Lab products normally create a key frame when ever you adjust or make a change to one of the effects or canvas. Most other programs require that you enter the key frames manually. That is what the pencil is for... to add a key frame manually. The eraser just erases any key frames which you want to get rid of.
