When i save a movie it doesnt save the full original length?

any ideas

Is the speed off, or is the end of the video just cut off? If (A) then your project settings are likely incorrect. If (B), then you probably didn't move the in and out points to encompass the entire clip. Use "I to set the in point and "O" to set the out point.

It sounds like your in/out points are incorrect, as Axeman suggested.

You can either use the manual method of setting your in/points, as Axeman explained above, or the automatic method which is to simply press 'P' once you get all of your footage on the timeline

You will find most semi-pro and above video applications use this convention to export/render specific sections of projects.
