Urgent help needed to get El.P working [bought cd on amazon]

So my dad bought me a copy of effectslab pro from Amazon, it arrived in a few days and installed fine. But I can't actually run it.

See, when I get to the point with the choice of how to activate it i have no choice but to type in the activation key, i type it in and it does it and then i get to the next screen which is the problem.

It has already been registered to someone else, and i need their password to! I don't know what to do, I've sent emails to a few support addresses but no reply. I live in England and should have really had an email back by now, unless they're busy which they probably are.

Does anyone know how I could get round this problem without spending any money? Or should I just keep waiting for a reply from the support team?

Always try to buy off of this site only! I and no other forum member can help you. I would contact FXhome staff here.

It is a violation of the license agreement to resell a copy of EffectsLab, or to transfer the license to someone else. If it is already registered to someone else, it cannot be transferred to you. Trying to run a copy in this way is piracy, which is possibly why the company haven't replied to your email. Your best bet is to try get your money back from whoever sold it to you, as it was illegal for them to do so if the program was already registered.

If it was bought of Amazon.co.uk then it was completely legit. The problem may be due to a printing error we had a while back that affected a very small number of Amazon boxes.

I have the same problem. Bought ELP from Amazon UK and serial number is already registered. I have no choice but to return it. I've contacted support to let them know the email that it's registered to. I'm not going to rebuy the product for fear of the same thing happening and I'm not buying by download as the price is past my budget.

Not sure why Axeman went off on one about piracy given that the OP had already stated the product was purchased from Amazon, a reputable source.

Just great. I'm so disappointed.

Since he said it was already registered to someone, I assumed he had bought it used on Amazon. My mistake, and I apologize. I frequently buy used DVD's off of Amazon, and assumed this was a similar situation.

Hi, Axeman, good reply. I bought mine brand new and you can imagine my astonishment at finding it already registered. This is such an unexpected thing that I can see where you were coming from.

I really don't know whether to bite the bullet and swallow the extra cost and download from here or just move on by. I've no overriding reason to buy it that would make me push past my £75 limit (I paid special delivery). But, I do feel disappointed and still do and I feel I may be missing out on something fun. Something I really need to mull over.

As Tarn mentioned, there are apparently some copies of the disc that were printed with a slight error or something, which buggered up the registry system. An email to support@fxhome.com explaining your situation will sort out the problem. So you should be able to have the software working in short order, at no further cost.

I had an email from Toby of FXhome and he seemed to think that someone had ordered it from Amazon, used it then returned it and Amazon then resold it.

That leaves me wondering who is the most accurate: Toby or Tarn.

If Toby is right then that means that some oink is using the software for free and I find that most irksome since for their greed they laid the problem at my door of being disappointed and having to send the software back with the rigmorole that entails. If that is the case it's a shame that FXhome can't cancel the code and leave the little s.o.b. high and dry. Obviously, if Toby is right, then Amazon should not have resealed the pack and sold it on (it came shrink-wrapped).

On the other hand said oink my have found that the software failed to run on their machine and legitimately sent it back - in which case I retract the oink bit and its conotations.
