Just dropping in to let you guys know that we're not dead, specifically any rumors of death by explosion are just a misunderstanding.

We've been pretty busy over the last... five years? It's been too long to tell. We've been saving up all the videos and shorts we've done, with the intention of releasing a mega-thread that crashes the site!

We've relocated to Los Angeles, and have been working here with a few other buddies as a directing / vfx team. There is a lot of action out here, and it's pretty great.

There is a ton of stuff that we want to share with the community, especially since the last year has been pretty productive for us - our final "student" project is now public, we're getting a visual effects company off the ground, and we've recently completed our first feature.

More is to come... but in the meantime I recommend that you all check these out:

Greenside - Short Film Created in 2007-2008
www.zerotrooper.com

Dark Island (Trailer) - Feature film we've just finished.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZZiDLCMu0c

Our Vimeo Channel - Tons of crazy VFX tests
http://vimeo.com/user1009705

Our company site
www.corridor-digital.com

And yes, we're stilling using prosumer cameras, but that may change soon...

Since there is a lot of content, I may be coming back to edit this first post every once in a while... just a heads up!

Hey guys, it's been a long time since we posted on this forum. After five years of working and learning, we wanted to return and see how this community has evolved, and share with you guys how we've developed from our early days of lightsabers and muzzle flashes created with Alamdv.

This site and community was instrumental to our careers as filmmakers and visual effects artists, and we would love to show you how our work has evolved, and where we stand today.

It will be interesting to see which old recognizable folks still frequent the site!

A brief history on what we've been up to:

After heading off to separate universities, MechaForce eventually transferred to the University of Wisconsin, which is where I was attending school. We continued to do create films and develop our skills in visual effects, which culminated in the creation of the film Greenside.

The trailer for Greenside was noticed by a production company in Los Angeles named Epic Pictures (www.epic-pictures.com), and they offered us a project; a low-budget monster movie!

Not ones to pass up an opportunity, we took on the project, titled "Dark Island". We gathered a crew of friends and found actors, and traveled out to British Columbia, where we entered production for a few months. That was a great experience, and the landscape up there is very beautiful (video from a plane ride we went on- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPgTkE8-EJA)

After wrapping production, we moved out to LA, where we worked on post-production for about eight months. In the meantime, we met many other professionals and filmmakers, and started developing a strong network. Dark Island helped to establish our credibility, and our visual effects work for the size of our budget impressed others in the industry. We found ourselves getting inquiries for visual effects work, so we decided to form a company.

We settled on the name Corridor Digital (not Twisted Studios razz ), and have seen a fair amount of work come our way through the various people we have met and worked with.

We are still in the process of creating movies as well, and will be starting our next film in the spring. In the meantime we are working on a disaster film with our friend Freddie Wong, about a hailstorm that decimates Seattle.

Needless to say, it's been an interesting few years.

Hey guys, great to see you again. Also excellent that you are still keeping busy in the video realm. Looking forward to taking a look at some of your projects when i get the time, maybe later today.

I've got the old TS GL1 now. smile

British Columbia is indeed beautiful country, I'm actually quite near there, on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State. If you ever end up filming there again, let me know and I'll crash the set.

Sickly impressive reel, guys. You're talents have grown a s*** ton ha. Glad to see you all kept in the industry! And can't wait to check out Dark Island. If you all ever need anything from our end, don't hesitate. Our entire team is based out here in LA as well.

Anyways, once again impressive stuff as always.

Sweet! I'm about 2 hours from Seattle, so keep me posted.

Having watched the reel on your site, as well as the trailer for Dark Island, I gotta say your work continues to impress. It obviously at a different level that it was last time you guys were about the forums, but even in a 'Hollywood' context it holds up nicely. I look forward to watching Greenside.

oh, and one of you guys should really update DXM in the cinema. It's presence has been missed.

Hey, great to see you guys back! Nostalgia hits me as I remember the Deus Ex Machina days and the Fool Skool movies, which inspired me quite a lot to continue my filmmaking! Your new VFX reel looks really great, and Dark Island looks like it was a lot of fun to shoot - let me know where I can pick up a copy of that! biggrin

Great to see you're still working together too and to see you here again! smile

Crikey. So many luminaries in one topic? I'm not sure the server can take it. As sfb said, all we need now is Hajiku_Flip.

Really great to have you both back, Sidey and Mecha (and good to see you again Waser, don't be a stranger!). The Dark Island and VFX tests/reels are seriously impressive - can't wait to check out Greenside.

As you can see, things at FXhome have changed a fair bit in the last 5 years as well, although I like to think we're still keeping it CSB-style. The community's still here, with lots of new faces as well as the old veterans. We've also moved into photo software as of a couple of years back, which is working out pretty well for us - although we're working on some secret new video stuff too which is going to be entirely awesome.

Also, all you LA based legends (CX3 and AJ's crews and Corridor Digital) should absolutely team up to make the Ultimate Film.

Wow, you make quite an entrance! This post, and the replies, have made my year.

Mecha and Sidey, it's fantastic to have you back! I found myself wondering just the other day what you guy might be doing - having checking over your links all I can say is that I'm dumbstruck!

It has long been our hope that the FXhome community will play some small, but helpful, part in its members creative journey. I'm absolutely ecstatic to see that you, along with other FXhomers from the early days, are now living the dream. Of course you all deserve it with the hours of hard work you've put in, especially considering the ropey software you used to use. wink

Congratulations on your success and I hope to catch up with you soon. As Tarn said, we're working on some new bits and pieces which might interest you...

P.S. I second the idea that you should team up with the other LA based FXhome legends and make the Ultimate Film! Maybe we can provide some funding or, better still, some software. wink

P.P.S. WASER!!!

Edit: Hang on... Where are AverageJoe and Codec3?

MOD edit: Please don't double post, no matter how excited you are. wink

Great to see Mecha and Sidewinder back, I was worried for a moment that we were all forever banned from Niko's manor, forever denied another taste of electro love fusion.

So welcome back. Your stuff has always been crazy impressive, evolving with my critical standards to remain awesome. Your reel is also brain knife levels of rock. Good luck with your company and projects guys.

What has everyone else been up to? Are there any neat movies in the cinema that I need to check out?

Also, to the CSB dudes, it's great to see how this site has evolved, and that the company still seems vibrant. You must all be proud of what you've achieved since the days of alamdv.

Nice to see so many old faces coming out of the woodwork! The new Twisted Studios, er, I mean Corridor Digital stuff is amazing, you guys never stop improving. Surely it must be time to reboot the Fool Skool series? smile

Dang, this is the definitely the heyday right here!

I'd have to say there have been a couple spiritual successors to the Fool Skool series... specifically our Mini Action Movie.

As far as that smoke monster goes, the trailer still has the 'old' shots of it before it had shading... the updated ones are in the film + our reel. The movie itself is complete, but we're still working an official release.

It's really great to see that the crew is still around! If anyone lives or finds themselves in the LA area, let me know!

Don't want to be too repetitive here, but holly moley! It's great to see you guys back. I remember back in the dark ages watching DXM and seeing where a little ingenuity and creativity can go. And the "Making Of..." was hilarious and informative. In fact, I might still have that burnt on a CD (yes the dark ages) somewhere. Your new stuff is just amazing too and I'm glad to hear of your advancement into the Hollywoodesque world! By the way, I'm in Long Beach, which is just down the road and I'm in Downtown all the time for work, so hit me up. I'd love to meet you guys and shake your hands for giving a lot of us here that extra boost of encouragement, whether you meant it or not. Thanks for the return and best of luck here in the Lost City of Angels.
