My camera produces MP4 files, which I am aware have to be converted to .MOV or .AVI to work with CompositeLab Pro.

I have imported the video into Power Director and rendered to a .MOV file with the best available qualiy. I have created a project using Widescreen, then rendered to a .MOV file. Although the imported video displays correctly on the canvas, the rendered file is still 4:3.

I am at my wit's end. What am I doing wrong?

I have had some problems with Widescreen in power director as well. Go to preferences (in composite lab, under canvas) first and check the box next to "assume footage is widescreen" And check your project settings as well. If it's not because of the project settings, then check cyberlink power director size settings again. Mine had a tendency to jump back to defaults... After that take a look at this article ..
