Okay, I'm a 47 year old father of three. I don't beat my wife or kick my dog and the only time I ever spanked one of my kids is when they crossed a street without looking. I am a very calm easy going guy.

But in the past month that I've owned VisionLab Studios I've had wild thoughts of strangling, kicking, punching and screaming, all at the same time.

When I first installed the program, it was flaky at best. It would constantly close (crash) on me on almost every session. So I searched the help forum and took the advice of the experts and followed it to the letter. I uninstalled the program, got rid of the directories in the documents and user directories, I even cleared out every instance of it in my registry.

I then made sure I had the latest versions of Quicktime and DirectX.

So now after I reinstalled the program, I can't even get it to open!!!!
It will stop halfway through "Progress: Importing FXpresets and give me error messages like: Director Player Error - String expected <void>
and Handler not found in object: #getPropRef.

Then I will have to open the task manager to shut it back down.
I've tried 3 times with the whole uninstall and reinstall process.

I'm running Windows 7 - 64-bit on an ASUS M2NE motherboard, AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor with 8 GB of Ram. My video card is a NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT with 512 MB of RAM.

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated before I'm forced to commit an act of violence on one of the family pets!!!!!

Frustratedly yours,
Lee

EDIT - Oh and I'm running ESET security suite, and have tried disabling that as well.

Hey Leee,

Sorry things aren't going your way on the Visionlab front...I could only imagine how frustrating your situation would be. If you haven't done it yet, I would recommend submitting a support ticket to contact the team directly, and they will work their hardest on finding a fix for your problems.

Hopefully your pets are still in good condition at the time of this writing. smile

It is indeed odd that you would have so many problems with the software; sorry to hear that.

Is the account you are installing/running the software from an admin account?

Yep, I made sure also to "run as administrator" too.

I'm wondering if it might have anything to do with .NET framework files?
I was having some problems with uninstalling and installing various versions of those files because of a separate problem.
I currently have versions 2.0, 3.5 and 4.0 (beta) installed.

Hmm, I can't help you there. That's beyond the scope of my knowledge. Though I'm sure one of the guys from the development team could offer some insight on the subject. Your best bet is probably to submit a ticket, as rogolo mentioned, and wait for a response on Monday when the guys get back into the office.

Just wondering why my post title was changed? Yeah I know, bad for sales. God forbid a potential customer should read that an end-user is slightly miffed at software that's not working like it's supposed to.

Sorry, us creative types don't like to be edited or censored.

If someone can get me up and running, I'll write the most fan-friggin-tastic review you've ever seen. Until then, I'm just tellin' it like it is baby!

Actually, I changed the title so it more accurately reflected the issue at hand. Descriptive titles are important in a support forum so people can find posts relating to a specific issue.

Here's hoping that the FXhome team can get you up and running in short order.

Well, my advice is the same as for Lee above; submit a support ticket and see what the experts can do to help you out. Provide as many specific details as you can when submitting the ticket, and they will be able to help you find a resolution more quickly.
