I'm waiting for delivery of my EffectsLab, but in the meantime trying to learn a few things in advance.

For example, I'd like to know if the Object Mask tool can be used to draw a selection on a frame, and then to lighten that section.

What I'd like to do is to impart a brief muzzle flash glow to a hand holding a gun and other nearby things when a muzzle flash is applied to the gun.

Is that possible?

Thanks.
Struker.

For that particular application, you will want a Mask, not an Object Mask. An Object Mask is used to borrow the alpha shape of another Object on the timeline, and create a mask in that shape. It requires that another object have an alpha channel already in place in the shape you want. For most typical masking jobs, the Freehand Mask is what you will want to use.

Yeah you should be able to find a glowing/light preset. then use an inverted mask to select the area that you want to glow.

Thanks, Axeman.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner. Keep forgetting the "email notification" doesn't work.

Cheers.

Email notification does work - make sure you check your junk folder if you're not getting our emails.

I must be thinking of a different website. I remember someone telling me their email notification hasn't worked for months, but they just put up with it.

I just noticed - do you have to select email notification for each post you make? It doesn't apply automatically to all threads?

It should apply automatically - it does for me. Maybe you have to set it in your account preferences?
