You may or may not run into trouble. Could you resize it to the size of the canvas you use? Any old photo editor would do.

I suppose I should have said with out resizing it. I was able to import the pic at the current size into AlamDV and add the effect I wanted but when I rendered it gave me 99 copies without the effect and 1 with the effect but they all had the task bar and chrome from windows included, which of course i don't want. I created a support ticket for it but they said they no longer support AlamDV.

You should be able to import it just like you would anything else. What problem do you have importing it? What happens? Do you get an error message or what?

I'm pretty sure EffectsLab Lite was limited to DV resolutions for video, but I'm not sure about stills.

As soon as I click "new" in fx lab it opens a little window which makes me choose a resolution. They are either NTSC or PAL and 720 width is the highest.
AlamDV will easily import the image but it has the chrome and task bar included in the rendered image and they apparently won't even attempt to help with that because AlamDV is old. But that is a little irritating because the program that was supposed to replace it apparently does not have the same capability, and if it weren't for the people who purchased AlamDV 7 years ago these guys would be working at seven eleven.

Well, EffectsLab was the program which replaced it, and it has all the functionality of AlamDV and then some. EffectsLab Lite was less expensive version with limited functionality. The problem with offering support for AlamDV is that the hardware and operating systems being run right now are nothing that it was designed to work with, so diagnosing and solving problems becomes exponentially more difficult.

If I understand correctly, you want to create a project at 1239x768, not just import an image that size into a project?

What have you tried to do to resolve the problem with the AlamDV renders? I know I have rendered from that program in the past without outside areas of the screen showing up, as have many other users. Other than submitting a support ticket, what did you try as a solution?

Well that is not quite accurate, at that time there was no "Effects Lab Lite" it was just Effects Lab. Then one day poof I had to reboot my computer and when I went to download Effects Lab it was "LITE", I just assumed they had created some newer more robust version for which they were charging a premium price. Also I was then and am now using Windows XP, really don't even know what you mean about hardware, my mother-in-law is using the system I had back then I would be happy to use it instead, but I think it is highly unlikely to work any different.

Just a single still image I want to add the effect to but it is to be the background image for a flash based website so that is the reason for the resolution. I know I can resize the image down to 720 but Then it will have to be resized backup and I am concerned about quality losses.

So far the only thing I have done is to do it again several times if there is some sort of setting I should be looking at I am not aware of it, that is why I asked for help. I have added effects to images in the past with out issue.

What if you close Chrome and hide the Taskbar before rendering?, so they can't show up?

Its been so many years since I used AlamDV that I can't remember how it was set up at all, so its difficult to offer suggestions.

If you want to send me the image and tell me what you need done, I can do a quick composite for you.

Hiding task bar easy enough... but close chrome? When I say chrome I mean the blue bar at the top where the name of the program::file are on the left and the minimize/maximize and close buttons are on the right.

Well surprisingly enough just hiding the taskbar, worked the image looks good. I appreciate you taking the time to discuss this. +1
Thanks,

Ah, I was thinking the Chrome browser, not part of the OS. Sorry, I'm not terribly familiar with Windows.

Glad you got it working though.
