In Visionlab... After you place the stock footage on the time line,
Click on the footage "title" or "name" on the time line.
That will open a dialogue box on your top right side of the screen.
Click on "composite", this will open up more composite options.
Choose the "screen" or "add" composite modes. This will get rid of the black background on your stock footage.

If you have a white background choose the "multiply" option to get rid of the white background.

That's odd, you should in Visionlab.
Did you follow the instructions?
It should say Composite with the word normal next to it and a samll icon to the right of that. Click on the icon to open the composite options.
