Hi

I’ve started to use an HD camcorder lately but I seem to have problems importing clips into Visionlab/Effectslab/Compositelab.

It’s kind of weird because the camera has 2 HD modes: 1280x720 and 1440x1080. Both modes are in .mov format with H.264 compression

Fxhome software imports the 1440x1080 clips fine but whenever I try the 1280x720 clips it comes up with a ‘string expected’ error. I have a few kinds of editing software on my PC and they allow the clips to be imported with no problems.

Could anyone offer some advice please?

many thanks

First bit of advice: Get your clips out of H.264 as soon as possible. H.264 is a delivery codec, not an editing codec. Converting them to a decent intermediate codec may also sort out the issue you are having, but even if it doesn't, you'll want to get away from H. 264 in short order. Its a terrific codec for delivery, but its rubbish for editing.
