I had an idea that the website could do with a page of useful links. These might be a number of things

- Links to pages that you use often when making a film.
- Useful information about making films or adding effects.
- Links to free stuff, like 3D objects, movie footage or software
- Links to places where to buy film equipment, props etc...

Let me know what you think below, and put your opinion in the poll. If there is a great demand for it, hopefully there will be a page up in the next few weeks smile

I had noticed that there was a page with links, but not a dedicated page on the site, just in the forum. So we'll take links from that, and also any more you guys think should be on it.

Tim, would you want to have a page with links.
i know people want it, just look at how well recieved the forum one is.

But from a business point i would be worried about people skipping this site and looking at others.

but i could be wrong. redface

if i remember the other guys said there might be a site / page ( as regards the post " the community comes together " where people advertise their skill etc. maybe the link page could be on that. rolleyes

Extremely insightful, b4uask biggrin Have +1 on me!

You're right, linking out to other websites is generally regarded as a poor business practice. Thank goodness all of us AlamDV-heads are staunchly loyal to the CSB-Digital site and forum smile

In fact... I'm pretty sure there even used to be a links page. I think it was taken down in the site redesign or something. I might be getting it confused with the once-great sound page, though. Maybe with "csb-digital's new plans" a link page will exist somewhere. Hajiku's post really needs to be a webpage, or a mulitple page website, nevertheless.

I agree with you b4uask30male, however I like to think that at alamdv.com we provide an aftersales service for everyone who buys the software, i.e. everyone here!!! And a links page will increase the service by providing you with links which will help you to create better and better films, which you can submit in the cinema. And in so doing, when new people come to the site and see good films created by AlamDV2 users, they will buy it.

An after-sale service would be really cool. It could include web hosting your movies, some kinda "a new plug-in is available" program, access to a links page & some sorta special community or something. Sorta like .Mac, lol.

A Link page is always good.. u dont really have to have one of thoose icons in the top, just in the comunity like Tarn's Turtiols icon.. and just link it to the Link Topic at the forum.. =) Thats really all thats need so everyone will find it.. then someone here at the comunity can add new links if they found one! what about that?

if you don't want to steer potential customers away - lock the link page to gold members only. dirty pool maybe - but it would just add to the package. confused

Hmm..You know Av, you've said that countless times, but it just finally clicked to me. A whole website containing that information would be really cool, and I could just add a submit button, with little drop down menus containing category, etc. and I'll be good to go. I'll look into starting that up soon. cool

good idea flip - maybe have a form where u put the url, name of site, description, category, and nickname (for credit wink) in, and then it adds it to like a big table of links or summit...

Or if the CSB team were to create something like this, they could make it available for gold users, to avoid that risk of people just going straight past the site itself, or have it on there other website that they r planning...

Gold users only. Why? Same thing with the plugin section. I don't want people who don't own alamdv taking precious bandwidth from the paying customers! precioussssssssssssssss bandwidth! twisted

Actually just a page with a bunch of links probably wouldn't take that much up. But I still want people to cough their dough up because the monee for Alam supports CSB, which hosts the site, which in turn supports the links. razz
