Hey guys!

For a while I have been creating some iPhone apps as a hobby. I have just released my first iPhone App called Volt. It's out now on the App store! It's a 3D lightning sim - it's for all you Sith Lord's out there! Here is a quick demonstration video:

I would love to hear what you guys think!

You can check it out on iTunes

Special thanks to Tarn and Redhawk for beta testing and translation. Also thanks to B3N for downloading it already!

I'm not really a fan of these kinds of apps, that have no real function outside of looking pretty, but I know people eat that stuff up.

How long did it take you to develop?

Good luck!

It actually took quite a long time to develop. I mainly just worked on it when I was at a loose end over the weekends. I found it quite a steep learning curve at first, but things came together this month so I decided to release it!

I have lots of ideas of features to add, so hopefully I can find the time. In particular I have been doing research in all my local bars scouting for 'disco balls' wink

Are you able to see the reviews from the US store, Jack? I ask because I know none of the iTunes UK reviews on my band's album are available to me, so I'm guessing its the same for you, and figured I could send you copies of them if you want. Hopefully sales continue well for you.

I can see the US reviews but only if I change the store to the US store in the home page of iTunes. You can probably do the same and change to the UK store.

Thanks er-no!

Unfortunately, Volt sales are not quite meeting that level! hehe.

Has anyone from the U.S downloaded Volt? I have had a few sales from the U.S. - If anyone has time to rate/review it that would be awesome! Let me know if you rate Volt so I can check out your review!

My fav review so far is:

"This app is so awesome. The graphics are amazung and it is additictin"

Although Hendo wrote a good one:

"It shouldn't be legal to have this much fun with your fingers and a vibrating phone"

I've been playing around with it for the last few hours. Lots of fun for sure. I'm not much into apps like this that don't have a point to them, but this one is just plain fun. I'll be sure to spread the word a little smile

Thanks a bunch!

Whilst Volt was on sale for 24 hours it got 5000 downloads! Which is pretty awesome! It reached as high as #32 in the US chart.

I have added some stats about downloads to my facebook group - join if you want to know how profitable or un-profitable iPhone app development is!

Hehe, that's awesome Jackpot. Hopefully those downloads translate to some word of mouth referrals, and more sales down the road.

Also, to make iPhone apps, you have to download the iPhone SDK from Apple Developer Connection and pay a once-off fee of $99 (I think) for a single user or $279 (could be wrong, but it's around that) for a corporation. The SDK contains Mac-only apps, too.

Yeah that right. Thanks, I should have mentioned that smile

Very soon you will be able to make iPhone Apps with Flash. I think that will work on Mac and PC

Even though you can't use Flash stuff on the iPhone (yet). I didn't know about that !

For those who want to know a bit more about it, here is an article.

Jack, have you got any more updates on the sales figures ?

Yeah I am planning to do an update soon. I was thinking of create a graph show the first month, with milestones etc.

I will add it to my facebook page:
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=281385834293&ref=mf

I might get time to do this in the next week or so.

I am currently working on some free software that lets you see an app's rank in any app store around the world up to the top 400 apps. Once thats done I will sort through the download figures for my facebook page.

Do you still plan on publishing sales figures on the Facebook page? I'd be interested to the see figures in relation to the various promotions you did.

Imitation is the highest form of flattery ?

Or, if someone famous steals your stuff and you're not quite as famous as them, their fans will get annoyed at you for "stealing their idea"....

*sigh*
