Metal Gear REX and a brighter frame request

I need a metal gear rex from the game metal gear solid. I also think that explosions and gun flashes need a bright light or some sort of way of brightening the surroundings. It looks out of place when you see a bright flash in a dark area. I know I could use a strobe, but I'd like to see what some of you could come up with. remember... explosions and flashes emit bright light. So the surrounding enviroment should also get lighter! If anyone can help please respond.

i have something quite similar - don't know if i can get around to it any time soon, but put this info for the others if they can get to it sooner -- you want stills or animations and if so - describe the animation. biggrin

I need it to walk... some stills would be usefull first. its difficult to explain how the damn thing moves. hmmm lemmi see if I can find a movie of it online.

i was about to mention the movement - having completed both metal gears i know that these things move like a b**ch smile

quite difficult to get it to walk, but maybe put it in it's swimming pose, with it's tail moving smile

Raider: just had a thought, what format is the mesh u got? and is it textured? cos if i can open it, u could send it to me, and we could both give it a go, will it work in 3ds max?!

i was also thinking about the big shell metal gear, from metal gear solid 2, now that would be a cool plugin, or maybe that effect (when ur in the big shell after it's taken off) there ar elotsof hexagons of light on the walls and stuff that move around, that would look cool as a plugin smile

the big shell would be great. the tanker would be too. I need metal gear rex more than ray however. I need the colors to be a dark green... and the color can't look really bright and fake looking. if I can help in any way let me know!

You make an excellent point regarding the illuminative effects of a muzzle flash or explosion, which perhaps can be taken into consideration in future plug-ins of this type. For the numerous plug-ins of this type already out there, however, you would have to figure out some sort of work-around, such as the one Raider suggested above.

I will try work up a 'Bright Flash' plug-in that you couls use for this type of effect, something more subtle than the lightbulb plug-in,which is mostly very bold colors. Then you can layer it behind the muzzle flashes or explosions. It will mean more work for you (the effects editor), but I guess that is the trade-off for a better result.

Give me a few days.

I just submitted a plug-in called Illumination that should do nicely for you in these situations. I was very pleased with the results in the tests I did with it. There are several colors included, so you can match your explosion or muzzle flash better.
