Hey folks,

Finally cracked the brunt of some of Fracture's big sequences and we have 9 vfx shots remaining! Come a long way from 70 + shots.

It is unfortunate we only have only one artist currently working on the project so there has been a little bit of a delay in reaching where we would like to be, some of these shots taking around two weeks to complete, but there is some good news as we'll be joined by more artists next week.

We have one big shot to finish (the opening) and then we'll start looking at creating a teaser trailer.

We're still looking for a 3D MAX animator. A very simple shot with some rotation animation on the escape pod model. We don't need any textures or renders, just the animation data from the timeline. If anyone is available to help just fire me an E-Mail or PM.

Cheers,
Ash.

I started off as a rotoscoper on this project, but it was at the start of my freshman year at Uni, so I didn't get any work done. Right now I'm out of school and a job, so all I have is free time. Need any grunt work done? I've got the Lab programs, After Effects, and Photoshop.

I'm very excited to see the results, based on all the previews, effects shots I received, and other press. This film is going to be badass. Love the score too. Glad to hear it's winding down.

I might be able to do that 3D shot if the project file is compatible with Cinema 4D. I can track real camera data on a miniature for a more organic animation. PM me if I fit the bill, I've been using Cinema 4D off and on for around 6 years now (wow, has it been that long?). I don't know exactly what kind of animation data you need though, so if it requires the .max file, then probably not. If Rawree or someone chimes in, they might be a better man for the job.

I'd already sent you a PM about the animation with my email details like you asked. Did you not get it?

Hello all. Just wondering if anyone can provide an estimate as to when we can expect the teaser trailer to be out..? Wondering if it could be weeks, or longer..? (Apologies if i sound anxious - i don't mean to sound like kids on a road trip - "Are we there yet?"). smile Just really looking forward to seeing what FXHome software can do with this kind of time and effort behind it.. thank you, Mike

Hi Mike,

I'm still waiting to receive some of the key shots back from the artists, and indeed a response from others. When this happens I can start to lay down some solid dates which will not slip. Until I have the completed shots in my possession at full quality I wouldn't like to guess.

Cheers,
Ash.

Well it's been a few weeks and I thought I'd just let you know where we are with the vfx work. Most of the complicated shots are now finished with just the introduction to finish off.

There's a couple of compositing shots that haven't quite worked so I'm having to find new artists to finish those off - backdrop with a 2d element animated.

Some of the smaller shots are to be sent my way, though I've been assured these are to be sent back to us today.

We are still looking for a 3D Max animator to animate our drifting pod through space, though it's proving very hard to find someone. As soon as these last shots arrive/finish we can finally say the film is finished.

Sorry i can't help - but it seems like a wonderful short. Can't wait to see it, sure it will be a ton of inspiration for my own short.

We got a slow week coming up at work and I'm sure I can find some time myself or put some vfx-artists to work, would love to help out any way I can!

Hello Ashley,

Yeah, I can volunteer again as well (I had done some preliminary garbage matte/roto work for the project). As I had told Matt, I mainly do compositing with Shake and Silhouette Roto (and VisionLab Studio, but of course that goes without saying). And if you already have a space pod model, I could even knock together an animation in Carrara.

I have done animation work using 3DS Max and would be willing to volunteer for this project.
