www.creativelive.com

This resource just launched today, and offers free registration for various courses related to creative arts. In particular, there will be training for digital photography and lighting for both photo and video which I thought might be of interest. The instructors are pro's in their various fields, and really know their stuff. The live classes are scheduled like an ordinary college class would be, so you can plan ahead to make sure and catch them. The amount of overlap between still photography and video, which uses the same fundamental principles of lenses and image sensors is pretty significant, so even courses focusing on still photography will be of benefit for beginners and experienced users alike. Here's a quick video introducing creativelive.com

The courses will also be available for purchase and download after they are broadcast, but even then the costs are massively reduced from what this type of training would ordinarily cost.

The first class of the Fundamentals of Digital Photography course today was essentially an orientation, though it was an excellent one, so if you jump in now you can still catch all of the good stuff. For free.

There is also an upcoming 3-day course on HDDSLR Cinema with Vincent Laforet which you may want to sign up for. Here's Vince's reel, if you aren't familiar with him.

Second session of this course today was quite good.

Wanted to give a heads-up that next week's free class will be all on lenses, so for anyone looking to get a better understanding of lenses, particularly for newcomers to the SLR world, it could be very worthwhile to join the class next week. 2 hours of very well presented free instruction, from an excellent instructor.

Also, there are portions of the first two classes available to watch freely online as well, so you can check it out if you aren't sure if the actual class is worth your time.

Yo Axe, any idea when Laforet is going to be re-doing a seminar on DSLR for video? And if it is going to be streamed live again on creativeLIVE? I missed the first one...

I don't know that they plan to do another one at any point, of that specific class, because the original is still available to purchase, in its entirety, for only $129 here. That price is for video of all three full days of the workshop.
