Fxhome Community!

I bring you the newest film created by me! razz

Now..Im not going to sugar coat it....its pretty bad. I mean, low quality camera, filmed in 10 MINUTES, vfx completed in 20 minutes. Thats not going to be amazing....but still its pretty action packed! Oh yeah...and I was the whole crew wink

And it even has its very own DVD cover! surprised

Well check it out here....

If you basically admit the film is bad then may I ask why put it up? You spent half an hour on it and want feedback on something you lopsidedly threw together? Do your best at it then see what can still be fixed. I'm being a bit harsh but do you get my point? That said, you spoke the truth, action, little story, etc. It's not amazing by any stretch of the word. Effects were decent. Were you looking for feedback on something specific?

What for? Honestly, a synopsis like "filmed in 10 minutes, it's pretty bad" sounds like a waste of time.
People's time is a valuable asset. If you're not willing to put in time in your work, most people won't be willing to put theirs in to even bother watch or comment.

Make a proper video, upload that and then collect feedback on what to improve on.

Don't take it like, "if my film isn't the best I shouldn't put it up because ppl will jump all over me!" Like I said, it was ok but work on a good plot, get some more people, and take your time on it. It's not a big deal if the video didn't come out great, but don't hurry to stick omsething up the second it's finished. Beyond that, good luck and as Sollthar says, I'm looking forward to it!
EDIT:

I didn't feel like I wasted my time watching it, so there's that... biggrin

Alright, so real evaluation....

Honestly, it't not bad at all. It's short, straight to the point, and it delivers exactly what it promises. The effects were fairly solid (for an action test like this) and I think you did a fine job considering you made this alone.

Sure, a lot of things could have been better, but compared to some of the short action tests that I've seen on this very site, it's more than acceptable.

I agree with Sollthar's sentiment regarding putting time and effort into your projects (if you want the viewer to use their own time to watch them). At the same time though, I recognize two distinctly different types of films on this site.... Those that are serious films, and those that are tests made by users who are simply experimenting with Fxhome's line of products and wish to share them with other users (in a casual laid back manner). I feel that your film falls into the latter category, and as such is subject to a different set of criticisms.

So yeah, there's my lengthy write up.

That shot where a random tennis ball bounces in front of you and then you blow up is genius.

Literally as I read Sollthar's first comment in this thread I pondered designing a witty picture to throw into this thread, only to scroll down and read these comments.

Made my day.

Cheers man,

Yeah it was just a short action test to experiment around...and hopefully once I get some better equipment I can start making some real stuff. And maybe get a crew together! Hee razz so thanks man!

The way you built it up, I was expecting a lot worse. This wasn't bad at all! Effects were great and the editing was tight and concise. And for only being filmed by one person, it was well done.

Good stuff man

Ok Guys I just made a quick intro to a possible film....once again I didnt spend ages around 15 minutes :L but I just wanted some feedback on shots, suspense...etc.

Once I get a decent camera then ill start putting more time into it.

Anways I hope you watch and can give some feedback,

Cheers,

That was pretty much a triple post. There is an edit button.

Honestly, I watched the film right when you posted it, and this much time later I thought the intro was the exact same film, had top rewatch the beginning of "10 minutes" to realize it.

For it being a one person film, not bad. But you should find more crew, moving camera shots really help with fluidity. Also, the grading varies a lot from shot-to-shot, and is just kind of dull, really desaturated, and like, pure green.

Watch Pooky's film Gunbound: http://fxhome.com/cinema/view/1499/gunbound

It will give you a lot of ideas; he made it when he was probably around your age, and all done with 1 man crew. Same kinda film.

Proper link: http://www.vimeo.com/8434738 (why doesn't the cinema allow Vimeo?)

Never did quite understand why that was so well received, heh smile

I think this might be better, though, and it was made a couple months before that (I was 15, I believe):
