I was wondering if anyone could make a large (stand alone) animation of a black/grey propeller spinning very fast, like one on the front of a prop plane in- flight. It would need to be loopable if possible.

This would also be a helpful plugin for anyone who has downloaded the WW2 planes and wishes to make them look more realistic by adding a moving propeller.

Thanks!

I know this doesn't really help if you don't have Illusion, but if you have it, check out: http://www.wondertouch.com/tutorials/matrix_copter/copter.asp

I have found in doing aircraft which have propellers that they don't cross into a plugin all that well. Maybe I am doing something wrong. kermZ

i think what u need to do kermz, is rotate the blade about 90 degrees, every 5-10 frames, then add motion blur, i think that will do the trick, test it out, if not, change the gaps inbetween rotations, what it does is int he end tweens it spinning, with a bit of motion blur, it looks faster, give ti a go smile

When you are talking about a propellor on a plane it is not as simple. Trust me TMM I have used your method. The rpoblem is not in getting the motion occuring, the problem is in the alpha channel and the see-through-ness of the propellor. In every attempt I have made to have a propellor incorporated, the alpha channel just simply makes it appear see through. KermZ

Hey, the tutorial about the spinning blade on the turbosquid link is exactly what I need.
I don't have Illusion, so thats why I was wondering if we could make something like this for Alam DV users.
Anyone tried it yet?

Wasn't there a metal gear solid film on this site, with loads of helicoptors at the end. Find out how they did those.
