Combined-Trailer for AlamDV2

I am posting this in hope, that maybe some other feel the same way I do.
I would love to help making a great trailer for AlamDV2, but the time given is simply to short and in a real bad time, cause Im very busy at the moment. And as I have seen, some others have the same problem.
So I suggest that we stick together and edit one trailer out of short footage anyone who wants can add. This way, the ones with short time could help and do something and Im sure the result will be better if you can concentrate on one short scene rather than a whole trailer in that short time given.
Would anyone be up for this?

if this trailer were to win - who'd get the prizes?

I am in no way telling anyone what to do but I would be down for Solthar's plan. I am too busy to do a whole trailer too.
We could have a bunch of people submit clips, have 1 person be director and then we have community trailer!
Who can do the rockin' music?????? hmm....... tarn, fallen.......
Also, we could do this as a seperate entry and if we win we divy up the loot. I think we would need to pick a director to assemble the clips. We could have a vote. I can't do it because of time contraints. I'm in let me know!

i could do it.
there are some bits in redfruit that would look good in a alamdv trilaer showcasing effects. and redfruit 2, but that's not even on my comp yet

That's a swell idea, Sollthar
In truth, I believe a lot of us aren't really interested in gaining anything financially or materially from making the trailer. I mean the prizes sound cool and all, but I think most of us would do our best even if there weren't any prizes. We just want to see AlamDV take off, and replace Microsoft in the long run
*Did I just say that out loud?*

Well, considering the prizes... I don´t know... I don´t want them, but that doesn´t really solve the problem, does it...
I feellike moebius in that case. What do you others think?
X: Hey, its great that you´re in!!! And yeah, we would need to have a director or at least an editor... anyone up for it? Cypher, what about you?
TMM: Well, adding the effects isn´t the problem thanks to AlamDV... Why don´t you try doing somethin in 3D? You can add AlamDV effects in 3D footage too, right? WOuld be great having you on board too..
Cypher: That would be fantastic, yes! Another great filmmaker in!
Moebius: As said,I feel just like you. I don´t want to do it for a prize, but for getting a greattrailer together and helping the csb-guys out, they do so much for theyr community. Time we give something back!!!!
So you´re in too?
Right... how plan? I think that everyone who wants to do a scene should write here what he does, not that we end up having a trailer full of lightsabers or so and nothing else...
So you can see what others do and plan to do something unique.

This sounds like an interesting idea - BUT how the heck would you spread the winnings? If they're programs, how you you split those?

what i meant was if someone was having trouble getting summit to look right i could give it a go, no credit necassary
i doubt i will contribute, although i would love to, but my 3d skillz aren't good enough to do anything good for an actual trailer (i had a space fight planned in my head, but then remembered that schwar said we can't use copyrighted ships, such as star wars, and i can't model that kinda stuff very well)...

Hey, great to see you here, Mecha...
As I said... I don´t know how to deal with the prizes... Maybe it will be easy... maybe noone wants them but one, than the problem is solved...
Pity TMM... You sure? Real pity...

sollthar: i have no prob editing it, woudl just have to figure out a way to get high quality video to me...which will then be passed high qualtiy to csb.
note: cool, someone thinks i;m a great editor AND filmmaker in general

So who is setting the standard for quality and format for possible clips?
I do not have time to shoot much of anything right now but I think I could shoot something very short and add some stuff to it.
So I guess I might be in. We need to designate a leader for the whole bit and get cracking! Time is ticking... As far as the prizes go those would be cool but the issue at hand is to promote our favorite program.
I will stay tuned for more info and see if I can help.
PS I would love to try and do my own project for this but I really have too many things up in the air right now...

I wouldn't mind being a director because I have access to a music making program which solves the music part of it - and I have a G4 with FCP3. Sidewinder and I can both edit it!
And we'll contribute a dump load of footage as well!
People would have to send us their footage via a burned CD with the .DV format footage on it to us and from there we can put it together . . .

The CD is out of question I think... It would take too much time and cost too much money... we have to solve this over the internet only though.

This is a great idea...I might be able to contribute a couple of clips...if you think they "bite", then don't use them. It won't hurt my feelings.
Anyway, after re-reading the rules, CSB won't need the best-rendered version of the video unless it wins. So, is there a way the clips could be uploaded in some smaller compressed format such as QT and put together?

Music making programs suck… they really do. I have a nice sound studio which consists of a foley stage and other stuff which i could create sound effects. Some one can buy a no royalty disk but they tend to be pricey for the better ones or some one can compose it (ie. me) but the only problem right now is that my instrement selection right now is limited to guitar, trombone and piano.

So, WHO is up for adding a short part and WHO is up for putting it together into one Trailer?

For the sharing of files you can use my yahoo group athttp://groups.yahoo.com/group/alamdv/
I recently started using Indeo 5.04 for compression and it worked really well good quality and small file sizes.
I have a couple of 3d clips of ww2 planes fighting, I will see if I can add any ALAM effects.

the rules do say that a high quality is not needed to be shown first, but for the winner. so say the collaboration is the winning thing right? and its in low quality, that means the editor woudl then have to get the high quality stuff and reedit it.
im up for editing, and i have a server for you guys to upload to. I could get it up anytime really if you guys don't mind it being me
im gonna go into the alam chat if anyone needs me.

I dont want to sound too greedy and like I want 2 shots at winning (I dont have much hope anyway
) But would it be alright to make a full trailer myself and also contribute some footage to a group effort.
If I'm not wanted in the group trailer for whatever reason then I wont mind I'll just have to go it alone.
Have you started collecting the footage already or are you still waiting if so when and how do the movies get to you?

Okay, so does anyone have any problem me editing it?
If not, i can make the ftp account for you guys to upload ur peices.
I'm not gonna be able to shoot anything, but ill add some redfruit 1 and 2 footage in there.
so again, if you guys are okay with me editing (or not okay), just tell me.
me gots to decide then on what kind of footage i need sent in (ie, compression etc).

No, sure you're welcome to add footage... Everyone is welcome too add wathever footage he wants too.
Cypher - Sure, that would be cool if you edit it. Just let people upload the footage they want to have in and try to make something of it, okay? For a "directing" like saying "I want this, this and this" the time is too short I guess... So we just give it a shot with random thing, but they needed to be posted here... So we still got an overview.

there's been tons of topics (at least a lot of them) about the alamdv community making a film together... how bout we actually give it a try instead of discussing it all day? and I could set up another agency
where people can sign up for different parts in the making of the movie?

First, im gonna try to come up with an idea for the trailer. hopefully i will find one in the next day or so

Post 34 of 51
I think you guys didn´t really understand what I was suggesting...
You don´t need to think of an idea... There´s no time for such thing and that would be a limit again. Let´s just define a format (for example 240x100) and then everyone who has a real good looking scene can upload it in this format and someone will try to cut it together... As the trailer is for a piece of software and not for an actual film, we wouldn´t need no "plot" or "idea", just some cool looking clips with cool looking effects and cool sounding music edited together...
We´re discussing again for 3 days now... Thats NOT it... We need webspace, a standard format, a place to upload the movie, someone who edits it together and someone wo does the music/titles or so... We have no time for anything else...

I may have a problem. All you lot use DV cameras and all I have is an anolog video camera and a video capture card so will anything I contribute look out of place?

No, I don't think so... In a small size you shouldn't really see the difference.

we need a big size though if we win, so why not do it from the start

Oh, and for the record, I don't want the prizes. I just want to have a part in this. It will also help promote legomation, which is good.

I am very very sorry and I feel like a fool... But I will not be able to do anything for the trailer. I thought I could, but then we suddenly got technical problems with Face to Face (as usual always when you have no time for those things) and we were working on that for 3 days now and it still isnt done..
Still I hope that the combined trailer works, it would begreat to see the community film together...
My apologies again!
