Cannot Connect Graph, Unsupported Format (DirectShow)

When I try to add a video (avi) to add effects to. I always get that message. Any ideas whats wrong?

What codec is the video? Does this happen with all AVI files, or only some?

Are these videos from your camera? If so you'll probably need a conversion method to get them into Fxhome products. Try windows movie maker. It's a program that comes free with Windows. Import your video into and then export it as shown in this video.
Give that a shot and see how it works.
