Hi guys and girls (of which there are how many now?)

As you might have read in another topic on this forum, I'm starting up and building a studio in the next couple of months and hoping to get it all going in time for becoming a father in September! (er-no as a dad.. yeah, I know... poor kid).

If I can survive building the studio without killing myself I'll need a logo and some branding.. here's where I hope you guys can help smile

The studio name is Hot Frog Studio (or just Hot Frog). I've spent a tiny bit of time setting some frogs on fire but they melt so fast I cannot get a decent photo... I think perhaps a drawn or 3D Still of a 'hot' 'frog' might work better...

Can anyone come up with an idea or two? The final logo will be printed out and displayed on emails as the studio logo and will also be professional printed onto a huge canvas to go on the front of the studio!

You know those poison arrow frogs? You could find a few nice stock photos of those and use Photoshop to make the colors and even patterns on their skin flaming, but really vivid and cool. It could just be a simple logo on white with some kind of clean, classy font, and one frog could be sitting on the "ground" next to the text, then maybe one on the "wall" or something.

You could also make the two "o's" frog eyes or flaming frog eyes, with the rest of the text either normal or frog skin textured (green if you did flaming frog eyes or Amazon Tree Frog eyes, flaming skin like in the above idea if the eyes don't convey the "hot" theme).

Just a couple ideas. Both of those ideas could also be vectorized. I could post a mockup if that doesn't make sense.

What style are you after? A classy, high-end Hot Frog will look a lot different to an edgy, hip, modern Hot Frog, if you know what I mean. What sort of clientele are you targeting? Do you have any color scheme in mind, or are you just starting from scrach here?

Pretty much starting from scratch. Cliental - from students to professionals. So something widely appealing that isn't too zanely it loses the plot... difficult to do with a Frog. But worth a shot smile

And Serpent - give a mock up a go, not too sure on the 'o's thing biggrin

How about a frog with sunglasses? If you try and make a clean Apple-like logo of it that isn't too goofy, I think it'd work really well, and it's sort of a play on words with hot meaning both a sexy frog and a frog that is in hot sunny weather (hence the sunglasses).

Yeah, I reckon a frog in a bikini, posing like Megan Fox on a bike.

The second idea would be something like this:

(On both I'm imagining a font like Helvetica or something)

If you didn't know what a red eyed tree frog was, you might not "get" that design immediately. So you may want to add some kind of texture to the font, like green amphibian skin. Or even a fringe of green amphibian skin around the eyes so they don't look like eggs or something. wink

I used this stock image, you can find MUCH MUCH MUCH better ones on iStockPhoto. That shot is very low res and amateur:
http://ellemacstock.deviantart.com/art/Red-eye-tree-frog-107225585?q=boost%3Apopular+in%3Aresources+frog+eye&qo=11 I also just lassoed around the eye real quick and used the eraser to get anything I missed. A very sloppy job, but that's what mockups are for. You could also vectorize this as I mentioned in the first post.

Alternatively, you could use other kinds of frog eyes and use Photoshop to "flame them up" like I described doing to the skin of the full frog shots in the first idea. A good mockup for that idea would take a while, but it would involve changing the colors, possibly stock images of fire, distortion effects, etc. In fact, I'm pretty sure I've seen Photoshop experiments where people replaced poison arrow frog textures with zebra prints and crazy stuff like that. Here's an example of a frog eye from the American Bull Frog:

And these guys are my favorite photographers right now, an example of changing a jungle python into a fictional ice python. Same concept as my first idea.

Hope that helps, lemme know if you have any more q's and I'll provide the a's.

Hybrid. That will be the postcard design. You got that any bigger?

Serpent - great ideas, I'll have a think and see what I can come up with this end. I love the idea of the eyes, does need some work though, the snake in the arctic looks great too. Again, an idea for a viral/mass sent out postcard to all the contacts, a hot frog surrounded by ice...

how to do that though. Hmm

I was also needy for a logo. I am open to any an idea. My initials are ZZ and my productions credited with:
2xZ Productions. I want it to be fire and ice, animated if possible. Ice on one side and Fire on the other, and possibly clash in the middle. This was just made up on the spot, and I need a lot of help. I also need help for something else....

(if you have time)

If you have your own ideas on this logo, feel free to make it WHATEVER and I mean ANYTHING TO YOUR STANDARDS WHATEVER-YOU-WANT-TO-DO-AT-ALL go ahead! Note: Sorry for all the capitals...stressed.

Thanks

2xZPro (this could also be a short verson for the logo). A picture for a logo is what I need though, and background of some sort, mysterious and magical, as well as cool text! Help!!! eek

2xZ - you might get more attention if you post a new topic, rather than hopping on the end of this one where people might miss it.

Put the offer in for the studio today...

Now the waiting game...

If all goes ahead myself and a Polish builder will be building the walls and floors come July 15th. He doesn't know a word of English, but I'm hoping through bad drawings and injuries I'll explain what I want to happen.

Another update... if anyone reads this!

Just ironing out the boring terms of the lease including the break clause length etc...

I've gotta somehow juggle setting up a studio, continuing the film work (I've started work now on Pirates 4 but because of the material I'm shooting and covering I've signed my soul away to an NDA agreement. It does look great though!) and now getting ready to be a father in September.

In the words of Hybrid Halo from Project One. This. Is. Madness.

If anyone here is into photography and based in the UK and would be interested in using a photographic studio for a great rate and wants to come and take a look in a month or so do get in touch. I'll offer a discount on rates and space to anyone coming from FxHome smile I've got access to models too, so if you are looking to shoot someone in particular I can sort that as well.

I'll post some pics when I get the chance.. hope the lease goes through!
