Enter the competition here!

Hello and welcome to the Unofficial FXhome Photography Challenge 2010! or 'TUFPC' razz
This is purely a user generated competition, but a great thanks to FXhome for allowing it to continue.

So, what is this?
Well, basically, there are four categories a competition. One category is given out a week to the users of FXhome, they each have a week before one category ends and another begins. This process is repeated until all the categories are done. When they are finished, a further week will be used for judging. The winner will be announced for each category and receive the prize(s) which are being sorted as you read.
The categories can be anything, such as a romantic theme, a theme of distress, sport or something impossible in reality.

Why is this going on?
It will hopefully help the photography forum boost its posts up, and also invite the photographers on and outside FXhome to show of their skills. Also with it being FXhome, I’m hoping that Photokey users shall be taking part. Also it is for your entertainment. smile

Who is judging us?
Well, there are five judges to avoid a gridlock in results, and they are
1. Ben 'B3N' Bayliss
2. Conor 'Serpent' O'Sullivan
3. Axel 'Axeman' Wilkinson
4. Ben 'Ben3308' Adams
5. Bryce 'Bryce007' Haag

The judges will be looking for composition, style, quality, whether the photo has stuck with the category and attention to detail. Judges will be required to save all the photos that are submitted and place them into different folders relating to the category. Judges must let me know the winner during the voting week.

________________________________________

The Rules[ (for category 2)/b]
Now this may seem boring, but you have to read them

[b]Submission must be
Taken with any type of camera. (DSLR, Film SLR, Point & Shoot, etc)
Must be photographic in nature and no use of scanners unless it is for stock purposes
Taken after the challenge is announced which will be 00:00 GMT (12:00am UK time)
Taken and post processed by you and you only. No paid for stock is allowed
Have a watermark on the image which doesn’t ruin the viewing of the image but lets us know what user it belongs too. (two examples shall be provided)
Linked into the category topic using imageshacks thumbnail BB code option and using the BB code tags [IMG]link[/IMG]. Images must larger than 640x480 pixels, and the maximum size must be no larger than 2560 x 1600 pixels.

You must
HAVE AN FXHOME USER ACCOUNT (This is free)
Submit only one final photo, but the final picture can have colors/brightness/saturation/vignetting/dodging/burning/blend modes/etc
Keep a raw copy of your photo as it was taken completely untouched and unedited and post this to show comparison.
Ensure your entire camera settings are correct such as time and date and post the image settings (exposure, shutter speed, time and date) with your raw images. (This is to benefit the camera geeks that like reading about these features and will also be used as metadata)
State what country you are from with your submission
Photo should be taken after the assignment is given, and should show in the exif data of the image

You may
Use any feature on your camera, shutter speed, aperture, ISO, etc. HDR is allowed.
Post process your photos using the available tools. (Cropping, filters, brightness, contrast, saturation, colour balance, dodging, burning)
Use RAW conversion software.

You may not
Use any compositing, manipulation, distortion, etc
Submit more than one photo per category.
Use an alternative account and submit other photos in hope to win.
Use paid for stock or someone else’s image that you didn’t shoot. All work must be yours, we want to see your creativity not someone elses.
Use text objects on your photos, the only exception is for watermarks.
Use explicit content such as sex, nudity of both genders

Also you may want to look at UK and US Photographers Rights

Any questions, please ask.

How to find your photo settings in Mac OSX

In Mac OSX, open your photo in preview, click Tools > Inspector, and use the EXIF and TIF tabs. This is one way to find your image data.

If you would like to submit pictures to the competition, post it in the appropriate 'Category' thread. For example, to submit a photo for the current contest, make a post in the 'TUFPC - Category Two' category thread, rather than this general thread.
