Welcome to the second category of the Unofficial FXhome Photography Competition.

The category
This category is based on colour. Whatever colour that is that is your choice. Basically, you need a picture which only consists of one colour. An example would be, a green bug on a green leaf with green trees in the background, a yellow flower with a yellow sunset behind it. Any type of shot is acceptable, macro, landscapes, ect.

The Rules
The original picture and the final picture should look exactly the same, but the final picture can have colors/brightness/saturation/vignetting/dodging/burning/blend modes/etc

There can be no compositing, manipulation, distortion, etc

An example of good and bad would be like so -

Also note the watermark in the corner of each photo, this is a watermark to those of you who don’t know, they aren’t compulsory, but if you think your work looks good enough to steal, then put one on because then it makes stealing your work harder. But the main reason we want them is so that we can easily look at a photo and know whose it is because it has your FXhome name on it.

Don’t forget the rules covered in the official introduction thread still stand.

Prizes
The winner shall recieve the following.

500 FXperience points to their profile.

One gift prize.

A free copy of Photokey 3

The gift prizes where only one can be won, are as followed so far.

A gear bag (more details soon)

Any five of the Photokey 3 background packs which can be found here
(the gift prize isn't chooseable due to various reasons. If you win, you win what we give you. smile )

Deadline – 15th August 2010 11:59pm
Good luck!

any questions PM me.

Just a tip - you might wanna tighten up your posts with clearer titles and such, it's kind of hard to understand and pick out the important info! wink

Anyway, I'll probably be entering this shortly for the prizes.

EDIT: Yeah, much better smile

Cool category, will be very challenging! I love the more abstract and diffuse categories in photography competitions - it makes comparing people's submissions much more fun as it's interesting to see the many takes of the same subject.

I will for sure submit some photos for the competition - just have to figure out what to do. wink

I'd really like to enter these competitions. Wonder if I can get any semi-decent results out of my basic point-and-shoot camera?

Something for future categories/rules could possible be to only allow unedited mobile phone camera images? Would be fun to see how creative people could be using the simplest camera available to them.

Not sure how many of you are familiar with Chase Jarvis, but he's a major commercial photographer who recently wrote a book called "The Best Camera is the One That's With You, which is filled with photos he took with his iPhone. Lots of great mobile phone and point-and-shoot pics can be seen on the site for the book here.

But to get back on topic, which is color, I look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with.

I think it perhaps should be mandatory for all entries to specify how far above or below ground/sea level their subjects are.

thanks guys! This was a very unexpected but pleasant surprise when I checked the forum today. I guess I have to thank the birds as well, for being extremely patient with me that day smile

I hope we'll have these contest around for some time as its great fun thinking about the different categories and watching all the unique approaches and ideas.

So, thanks for getting these contests going and all the time you put into this.

Have a nice evening everyone!
