|Fall of the Jedi|
'The Film Utah is asking for ! '
It is 200 years after the fall of the first evil galactic EMPEROR. The Galaxies have lived in peace until now. Stories are told of an ancient weapon, the DEATH STAR, yet the knowledge of whether it existed or not remains uncertain. And now, Remnants of the dark side have mustered their forces and proclaimed a new Emperor to the throne. The council has stood idle as the oppressed masses stood beneath the iron fist of the dark side. They have watched as thousands were consumed by the sword--For matters of diplomacy the council could not intervene. Word has just been received that the construction plans for the DEATH STAR have been salvaged piece by piece from remote corners of the galaxy. While still working under the flag of the empire, the Council dispatched 2 Jedi Knights, ELWAHN MINN and ANDROSS LEAR, to negotiate with the emperor. In their brief, they are told, "If no treaty can be inscribed, then appropriate action must be taken to insure the preservation of peace and existence in the galaxy." Elwahn, holding his life and faith in the council, heads into the conflict with his padawan, Andross who silently begins to question his faith.
The Jedis are joined by a rebel faction under the command of Commander Zukarion, The Hyperion fleet, as they stand up againts the towering shadow of the Emperor, who plans the ultimate revenge....

Ohh, finaly the fan film im been waiting for is uploaded.. and i have to say im not that impressed.. Looking at the trailer i thought it would be better.. Its a good fanfilm, but the plot is kind a weak.. and some scenes to.. Like the Saberfight.. im sorry that one isnt so good.. but if u look at the x-wing scenes in and outside of the cockpit, they are impressive.. The film is a little bit to dark.. i like it when its dark.. but not that dark! The actors is good.. almost everyone of them.. I know its hard to make a fanfilm.. im working on one right now.. and i will upload it in a month or two..
Then one of the most importent things of a SW film.. the coustumes.. they are good! Real Good.. (i dont have any exept a homemade boba coustume in mine)
So lets clear this up!:
FX: 4/5- Good use of the alamdv Fx's!
Coustumes: 4/5- I think i would rate it better if i saaw how they looked like
3D: 5/5- GOOD GOOD GOOD!
Good Work! U get 4 stars from me!
Let us see a Brighter Sequel!

Ok....lets see.....I thought the story was kinda rushed. It had potential to be kinda cool. Take more time and develop the characters. The special effects were really good and the props were awsome. The lightsaber fight was sub-par. Really slow...was the first thing that went through my mind. The duel is kinda the bench mark of the Star wars movies, it would have been nice to see it a little more choriagraphed. The film making and camara was great, well done. I hope my fan film comes out half as good.

Just watched it and i enjoyed it, tho the picture was not as clear and as good as the trailer for it, liked the use of music which gave it a good feel, also thought the fight was pretty cool, tho it did look a little slow, but hey im not complaining
Liked the little out takes at the end specialy the last one with all the different videos on the blue screen

Wow! That was really cool.
I will say though that during the saber fight you could have chosen some faster and/or louder.
Other than that it was excellent and really kept true to the star wars style.
Hope to see a sequel soon.

Hi all! Thank you for your support and d/ls.
Ok, first off, let me get some of the questions out of the way that you guys brought up.
the "Dark" - This was becuase the final cut of the film was ALL color corrected, and layers upon layers of filters were added to get rid of the "DV cam" look. It's still there, but only 50%, instead of 100%. The general "Darkness" is becuase the film has been designed to play in a completely darkened roomed (I.e. .... a... THEATER!
lol ), and also have a little more strong contrasted color tone to reflect the darkness of the theme overall. (Planets blowing up, good succombing to evil, ect...)
The saber fight - Normaly, I'd tell you that the saber fight was a little slow becuase I was going for a more intense, "There's actual danger - be carefull!", realism over hyper kung fu action. But, that's the HALF truth. The second half is the fact that we ran out of time to really polish the coeargraphy. John (darth thane) is an absolute blast to work with, and he spent a lot of time with me on his fighting techniques. Unfortunatly, near the end of rehersal, Aaron (andross) started uttering the most henious words a director will hear. "Let's just wing it!" *shudder*. So some parts of the fighting were 'winged'. That's when I said, ok, obviously fast paced is out of the question... it's uhh... time to try a new formula.
Is that? What am I missing here?
oh well, let me know what else you guys thought.

The 3D work was nice and some of the chroma keying was good. Your locations were good, too.
I was a little put off by the tone of the movie. When the two Jedi approached the guy in the desert and he was wearing street clothes and sitting at a card table with a plastic cooler, I was sure I was about to watch a parody. When the movie took on a more serious tone after that, I was a bit confused.
You had some nice editing, though, and I'm a sucker for outtakes at the end of a movie.

HOLY COW! that was crazy good
one of the best shots ever made in an amateur movie was that death star shot where the laser flew past the camera, and then u saw the planet go BOOM
it was great
most of the 3d was great, but some of it was noticeably bad, like the hanger shots, but a lot of the 3d was cool
what did u use, 3ds max rite?!
the blue screening was good most of the time, but i noticed in the saber fight that the pit/core thingy stayed still when the camera was moving, making it look really odd
the sound was good most of the time, but sometimes u couldn't here the voices very well, but full blast through the stereo fixes that
well, gonna have to give a 5 stars, to me it is more of a 4.5 though, it needs a few improvements, but u payed attention to detail, good sets (made with pencils and polystyrene
[or as u american's say, styrofoam, or something]) good out takes, with the bikes, and random dancing man too
alam was used well too, look very kool, and u used it just rite
i hope to see more of ur work, i was very impressed, make more now!!

Thanks for your support guys!!
I did use 3d studio max for the 3d modeling.
Also, just a little tidbit. The "Random" guy isn't actualy random at all! The actor's name who played that role is named "Evan." That's actualy Evan in the background dancing! (The hair is what gives it a way) I found the footage kicking around on my HD and it made me laugh, so I threw it in.
For what it is, I would personaly give it a 5 (but this comes from me! lol. I made the film.) becuase a 20 minute film is near IMPOSSIBLE to polish completely when it's 1 man running the tech.
The stuff added in the desert was from my art director. In the script, we wanted kind of a comic irony. Commander Zukarion was sitting in the middle of nowhere in a lawn chair sipping a margarita. Somehow, the cooler and tabel were added. I wasn't available that day for the shoot, so my Art director (who was aslo the assistant director) became the director, and he was calling the shots for that scene. (I wish he would've used a refelctor board though. The faces are very 'racoony')
oh well! I'm still pleased with the final product.

This is to Toypyro. How can you vote a zero on this and give LSU duel a 2 star? I thought this site was effects? I've already stressed this over Maxtoker. This is not a Star Wars FanFilm Site, true. But it is a special effects cinema. You only vote for how good the effects are, No offense Malone, But there just wasn't enough impression in LSU, that I couldn't give it a very high rating. I will admit that I'm a Star Wars fan, but on this website, I do vote by effects, not if it is Star Wars or not, or by the plot.
Please forgive me for sounding so negative.
No offense, but this is where I should stop, because of my signature.
Sorry, I had to say that

Best part was the 3D work for corucent blowing up...the buildings and shots on the planet were good
did u have to model all of that???

Post 18 of 49
Ah. Most people are saying the same thing about their favorite scene--coruscant.
I didn't model all of it, but I did do the animation. ALL the explode effects were based on partical systems. The whole scene (3 shots) took about 6 days of straight rendering.
It took A LOT of work to do that shot!!

Simply put, it was amazing
Sure, the lightsaber duel was a little lackluster, and certain 3D elements didn't look as good as others, and the opening section of the compressed film wasn't deinterlaced. But how many of us can actually do stuff like this? Very few indeed.
5 stars straight up

I admit the lightsaber battle was sub-par. Elwan didn't show up the last day we had to choreograph, and Johny B (Thane) had to leave early a few times, and... we didn't have the time. It's more intense, but we didn't get a chance to put in a lot of facial expressions to emphasize that. I still go over that choreography. It kinda makes me want to do it again.
And I swear we had the two lightsaber thing before Episode II came out. We were running out of time, and I figured what the hell, let's put in two lightsabers at once, and I finish up with my master's lightsaber. But the props were somewhat difficult, and like Tony (Mugwump) said, we ran out of time.
I think it was Rick McCallum that said, "Films aren't completed, they're just abandoned." Or was that George?

I would definatly have to agree with my co-producer here, The lightsaber duel is pretty....yeah... well, there are better ones out there!! Oh well! at least they Look
besides, we had to sort of juggle time with building the x-wing and fight coeargraphy. Obviously, the x-wing got a little more attention.
For what it is though, I think it works at least! Johnny B certainly does a great job with his little spins and what not! Also, for being completely 'winged' I think that Aaron+Johnny B did a great job with the final box! (The catwalk fight)
It's not the best, but it's still THERE at thats what counts!
yeah, and Like Aaron said, the 2 lightsabers thing we had NO idea were in episode 2!! It was pretty funny when we saw the trailer... lol...

Hmm, hi. me again. i have to say it becomes better and better for everytime im seeing it.. Its a good short-movie and there is a hole lot good things in it too. If u had the time, why not make a directors cut out of it. and maybe try to do something about some thing!
I have done that a few times and i have to say its worth the work! How muck money did u spent on it?! once again. good work! May the force be with u!

Tony/Mugwump gave fanfilmfx.com exclusive hosting priveledges. (Note the first screen you see.) But we ran them out of bandwidth. The problem is fixed, now, and they're trying to upgrade the site, but the link is down here because there's still an issue with bandwidth. Mike I think the fffx guy's name is, is working with it.
It might be easier to mirror it on alamdv.com too. But, that's Tony's department. Until then you guys will have to go strait to the site, or see the one that fallen has put up.

You get 5 Stars from me with no question. Okay, the plot could have been a little more complex, but actually that didn't really matter.
I really liked the look of your film. You obviously put really much effort in that little piece of cinema and thats clear to see. Good camerawork, good editing and good lighting as very good special effects (3D animations and Models) make clear that what you did was planned, well thought of and made with love for details.
And thats why I think this is a topfilm. Not something somebody shot out of nothing, but something planned and artistically designed.
My huge compliments to all involved!!

Super Job. I've been keeping my eye on this one for a while and have seen you here and at TFN. I really liked the effort you put forth in set design and 3D work. The acting was very good by both the Jedi. Coruscant scene was great! The dude in the X wing was cracking me up too!
Anyways, I thought portions of battle in the emperors chambers could have used some work- the compositing of the shaft with the actors fighting seemed kinda sketchy- looked like the camera wasn't locked down or something. Also, the audio looping wasn't always perfect, but it looked like you had to loop that whole section in the desert so it must have been really hard.
Overall- very very good. A few tweaks here and there and it would have been stellar. Keep up the good work-

Hi, thought i'd give my comments
1st i must say i had to watch it from your website, ( i think there is a problem here with your link, but i won't hold that against you. )
1. Big budget
2. 3D fx's were very cool.
3. Sound fx well placed
4. Sets were good.
1. It started out as a new starwars film, but ended taking bits from all the feature films, left me a little sad, i wanted to see a new story, not word for word from the features. ( wipe them out )
2. music too loud
3. voices distorted, hard to hear.
4. Saw mics shadows a few times.
5. Out of focus a few times.
6. 1st scene in desert, too much talking.
7. Cool boxes ( in the desert ) was a bit odd.
I'll give it 3, mainly for the fx, I would just like to say if I had the resorces, budget & people that was in your film I would have used them better.
( Please on your next one, do your own story. )

There were some hosting issues. Fanfilmfx.com was the host, but then they were out of bandwidth, and Alamdv.com had to remove the direct link. But now the bandwidth problem is solved and there is no longer a hosting issue. We are slowly getting it to be hosted on AlamDV.com. We're just too lazy.
Music too loud and distorted voices can easily be solved by turning your volume down. No one else has had a problem with the volume of it. Can you give me specific places where the music was too loud? Scenes and such?
Finally somebody else notices the boom shadow! That's been bugging me for the longest time, and everyone's like, "Oh I don't see it. Where is it? You don't notice unless you're looking for it." I'm glad somebody else noticed.
It's sad we had to cut down the film. The length of the desert scene would have fit better if we hadn't cut down the first few scenes.
Out of focus was done on purpose. Digitally. The Emperor was supposed to be a sketchy character.
But thanks for your input. For the sequel, we've got a pretty original storyline, which is a little odd in some places, but... it's original.
Thanks for the feedback though.

When is the next one out...
( I remember now, commenting on the graphics before, on your trailer, i thought they were taken from the real film, who ever done you 3d fx is very, very good. )
I look forward to the next one, does it continue from this, or is it a totally different story.
( the sound was mainly in the cockpits )

Ah. Hmm... yeah, I can see the cockpit voices thing.
Tony/Mugwump did our 3Danimation.
The next film is a continuation of this, and it's not due out for several several months. We've barely finished the final touches on the script and are getting ready to begin filming.

Hey, we watched parts of your movie today in my TV class at Kearns High, you were/are at Highland, right? Very nice job by the way.
We also watched the spoof that some of your classmates made, that was pretty funny as well.
Anyways, just thought I'd tell you good job!
