Good morning all,

It's been a long process and a lot of blood sweat and tears, but I'm really pleased to be able to finally show you our teaser trailer for Fracture.

For now it's a youtube link which we'll make more official a bit later on. I just wanted to get this out as quick as possible to prevent further delays.

Hope you all enjoy.

Best,
Ash.

Very much a teaser trailer, look forward to something which has some dialogue from a couple of characters!

Visually looks very nice! Can't wait to see how it comes together.

As I've already said it's looking great! Had no idea the base shots would end up looking that brilliant when I sent the model off to you last year! (Even more surprising given my already high expectation wink )

I'm going to be honest- there's some fantastic VFX work in this, but that's about where it ends with me. Shot composition seems solid, but nothing remarkable. But really, my big problem is this: It's just incredibly underwhelming for me.

And maybe that's the editing- but the pacing, teasing-nature, timing, and just overall allure just isn't there for me, which sucks I suppose for both of us.

Maybe some will roll their eyes and say I'm just being a hater and a cynic, but really I'm just slightly disappointed. There's fantastic potential and obvious effort in this- but there's also just a huge disconnect/attraction in the pacing/editing for me. At least for this being a teaser. It just doesn't at all 'tease' me- there's something in the procession of clips from about midway through that I just immediately think 'ahhhh I wouldn't cut that like that!'. Which is also just my critical editor's nature. smile

I still greatly look forward to this, though, because the talent, time, material, and massive effort is there- I just think this teaser doesn't represent that past a level of 'oh, look- this movie has lots of special effects I guess'. Which I don't mean as an insult at all- this is all incredibly exciting to see still come together and I greatly anticipate it- this teaser's editing/allure just doesn't sit well with me. wink

Hm... So far, I have to agree with atom. Some good and few even fantastic vfx shots in there (mainly that outdoor shot with the space suit one! Awesome!) - that's by far the strongest area of this teaser. The rest doesn't seem to get off the ground though, at least for me. It's not bad or anything, there's obviously a lot of care and work gone into it, it's just not connecting for some reasons.

But I'll reserve judgement for the full film, obviously.

I agree with Atom and Sollthar - that space suit shot was great! However I also share their opinion about the 'underwhelming' part, I was slightly let down by the teaser/trailer. Are you guys going to do a more classic trailer introducing the characters etc.? The 'helicopter' shot of the base coming into view at the beginning, the base itself could have been more blended in with the environment, I think...But I'm spoiled by AVATAR.

Can't wait to see the film though.

I partially agree with the criticisms of the way this was put together, but I thought it started very strong and was going in the right direction with the establishing shots and titles. Right now, it does work in my opinion. If I saw this knowing nothing about it, the people, the effort, etc. I would probably want to see it because of the visual effort and execution in a budget indie scifi, and the setting and vague premise presented. But that's a very basic level for me to be interested in something, as I am a scifi and indie film fan, and I think it could be have been made much more alluring for a general audience.

Looks very awesome though, and I'm very excited for the film.

First off, thanks for taking time to watch the video and comment. I know the teaser is very short so to write down some constructive feedback is appreciated.

While we would love to do another trailer soon it's unlikely in the form of a traditional 'character' trailer. The problem with a short film is just that, it's short. The running length makes it's hard to justify to even have a trailer, especially without giving too much away.

I said it's unlikely, but not out the question. smile

The teaser doesn't work for everyone but some of the comments have been really positive and people generally want to see the short, so success on that front.

One thing I'd like to ask is if people can help spread the word about 'Fracture' via their Twitter and Facebook accounts. These are really great for publicising projects, so if you guys are game we'd be in your debt if you can paste the teaser link to friends, family and generally everywhere! Either the Vimeo link or this thread is preferred.

Thanks again for your comments and I'll keep firing updates as the release to the short rides over the hill.

Best,
Ash

Don't forget the 'Fracture' FB Group as well which can be found here: http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=133817466659119&ref=ts

Works well, although I feel like the sound design could be much better. Also, I REALLY hope that "Evacuate immediately" voice is changed before the movie is finalized. It sounds really awkward and out of place. If not changed, at least at some EQ/reverb/resonance.
