Not sure about you guys, but using this tiny iPhone screen for FXHome is pretty counterintuitive! With a large number of web users now on mobile devices, I was just wondering if an app is in the works?

I mean, I worked on one in the iPhone SDK like 18 months ago, but quit when I starting worrying about fixing bugs and the legality of the whole thing.... biggrin

Hey, it's not our fault you're using a mobile device that doesn't scale forum text efficiently. wink (*Tarn strokes his new Android phone)

More seriously, it would indeed be very cool to see iPhone and Android apps providing easy access to FXhomey things. However, there's no way for stuff like that to fit into our current schedule. It's certainly something we're interested in - we're all smartphone junkies here, of various varieties (mostly iPhones) - it's just a matter of resources.

So although we're not able to develop such a thing at this time, and I can't make any promises that we ever will, for future reference:

What kind of stuff would you like to see in such an app?

What is it about the standard web experience on your mobile device that is currently unsatisfactory?

I think a way to check forums, PMs, news, our recent posts/ratings/profile/account edit, and a mobile cinema. Mobile cinema would just link directly to video, so if it were an incompatible format, you'd have it tell the user to watch that particular film on their computer. Forums and topics would be displayed as nice lists, and posts would be formatted for just the bare necessities. PMs would be arranged similarly, and sending message and posting topic would be similar. Some of that might be obvious, just typin it as it comes.

You could also utilize watched topics in the app to make it easy for users to watch certain topics of interest in iPhone interface, which would be useful when not on-the-go as well, to see them in a updating list form.

And lastly, it would feature WPDLMobile, for WPD on the go.

Having the interface optimized is much easier than browsing a forum like a normal website on the iPhone. Not sure if any of that is doable, my iPod touch got stolen so I stopped caring about apps.

You kind of sound like a politician.

Well the text isn't that bad on an iPhone 4, cos at least it's readable if you focus enough. But basically, make everything bigger and iPhone-ised with only one column. All I'd need is Forums and Messaging, really, cos those are the two things I check often and the hardest ones to use due to the small size of everything razz
