I just purchased Alam DV2 and after making a short movie from footage from my DV cam, and then I export it as an AVI(uncompressed video). But then when I try to open the file up in my editor (Pinnacle Systems Studio 7, newest update) it screws up and won't even let me play the file.
Maybe I am just doing something wrong, but some help would be very appreciated.

Right, are you ready...
I have studio 7.............and it won't let me bring uncompressed from alamdv.
that's it, can't be done, does not like it, i searched on pinnacle sites for ages.
The only things i can suggest is :
upgrade to studio 8 ( now out )
use different software eg: premiere, Windows movie maker, ulead etc.
Don't save it uncompressed, use the best codec for avi.
sorry it's not much help.
( P.s i've even tried uncompressed into window movie maker then compressed to avi into studio 7, and that did NOT work either. )

It can be done, I think its slightly discussed in the AVI problems forum.
Here is how...
1. After exporting the file, load it in Virtual Dub and then export it as none compressed again - this new file will work fine.
2. Export to another lossless codec like Huffy - free to download and should work just fine.
Hope this helps.

I am using AlamDV2 in Demo mode and wasn't going to buy because of this problem. It took me about five minutes to find this help, download Virtual DUB and cure the problem! Thanks very much.

Will AlamDV be able to save that VirtualDUB step in a future version? I mean if AlamDV could do the same uncompressed processing than VirtualDUB. Before I was able to import uncompressed from AlamDV into Premiere withtout any problem, and now I need to pass every avis by VirtualDUB... maybe because of something changed in 2.1.5 or DX9!

AlamDV2.5 should make some masive changes to all the avi problems we have had. Microsoft DV should even work ok!!

Or you could buy the MainConcept DV codec. (Can try by downloading the demo for free). It works perfectly on my system without needing the virtual dub step to S 7.

Nope I've found many things about the problem of premiere and windows media player that can't read uncompressed avi!
First of all about MainConcept, compared to uncompressed or Microsoft DV, it puts many little dots in rows...
And if your uncompressed doesn't work, it's all about your harddrive and FAT32. It's 225 megs for 5 seconds, so you'll get your max 4 gigs after about 1m30. If you edited longer part in AlamDV2, it will minimize to 3,99 gigs anyways so your avi will be corruped! What a discovery! That's why I can't wait to have the Microsoft DV codec for exporting! Also the new Windows Media Player codec de-interlace the avi, MainConcept doesn't.
