Last year we asked you to send in a video greeting for the community, which then got compiled into the epic Xmas Video 2009. That time has come round again and we're putting together the Xmas Video 2010!

The details are much the same as last year:

The mission: Record a video greeting for the FXhome.com community.

Details: It's your chance to shout out to the community. It can be about 2010, or Christmas, or a specific FXhomer. The more in-jokey the better, of course.

Length: Each greeting should be around 5 seconds long.

Technicals: Videos need to be under 50MB so that you can send them to us using the ACME Handy Dandy FXhome Uploaderiser. Important: your video's filename needs to be your FXhome.com username, so we know who you are!

Deadline: We need your videos by November 29th!

Right, let's see if we can one-up last year's video. wink

Ouch, 5 seconds is no good.

I'm just thinking you're going have to deal with our 20-30 second shout-out-a-thon. Just do it

Atom - there's some flexibility, but we have to keep it short otherwise the whole Xmas Video could end up being about an hour long. razz

If you've got the best idea ever then go for it, but do try to keep it as short as possible. wink

Awesome! I had a blast last year, and the video rocked. Mine may be a little over 5 seconds though, because that's incredibly short. I'll figure something out.

Already started planning it, will try to top blowing up a christmas tree. Thinking about some sort of "Redhawk Cave" at the moment.

Only if it is epically, epically good. wink

Because there's a fair few clips to get in we won't be able to include lots of long clips. So if you submit a really long one we might have to edit it slightly this end.

Our entry is about 4 minutes long. If we cut it to somewhere around 30 seconds, can you promise you won't cut it off anymore than that? Otherwise it's all for naught.

Totally serious.

Oh, and you might want to do some extra bleeps in this, too. wink

For what it's worth, we're four users on this website with one video. If we made individual ones, they'd be four times the length anyways. If we got everyone who's in our group who is registered with this website to make individual ones, we'd have 8-9 people anyhow.

I think the point is that this is the FXHome Christmas greeting, not the Atomic Productions Christmas greeting. If you guys want to post a 4 minute video, go for it, but it was made very clear at the start that the videos for this project should be about 5 seconds each. So if it gets cut down, you have no one to blame but yourselves... You didn't HAVE to shoot it that long, after all. smile

We tried to shoot a video with all of our friends from out of town from our videos together over this Thanksgiving break, and we couldn't get along well enough in one room to get all of us in one 5 second message together, so we had to cut out footage of everyone, ourselves included, sans some 'stand ins'. It got creative.

That said, ours will probably be cut out. biggrin

Mine is really stupid and simple because I don't have any of my equipment with me, thanks to moving. JUST LIKE LAST YEAR. evil

Hooray for iphone video... I guess. Edit: Oh, great... that's not even going to work. Three year old laptop camera for the win?

Edit again: Uploaded. It's by far the cheapest looking video I've ever done, and for that I am proud.

Hehe, great stuff guys.

Atom/Ben - can you upload both versions? The short version is the one that'll have to go on the video, I think, but it'd be a shame to miss out on the long one as well. Maybe that can go up as a separate vid afterwards?

We'll definitely be uploading the 'long' version at some point after the Christmas video is released. When you start cutting out not one, but two instances of wig-work in the video, you know something has gone awry. biggrin

If it's too late, no worries, it took all of ten seconds to record! Apologies for the slightly wonky video quality; totally forgot about this and don't have any decent kit to hand!
