Hi,

Im currently evaluating whether to purchase this or other effect programs, which I hope to use to make short advertising type videos.

In order to test the suitability of this product Im hoping to implement a classic "branch lightning" effect.

Can anyone talk me through creating a basic lightning effect that will start in the top right corner of the screen and stretch out towards the bottom left?

Ive seen that some pre-set already exist that do lightning which I was hoping to use as a basis to experiment, but unfortunately I need to have purchased a product in order to dl these. This is something Im not prepared to do until Ive created at least one effect using the basic element types: Neon, gunfire etc....

Can anyone spare the time to help?
- I have zero experience of Effects Lab, but have a large amount of technical and some video editing experience.

TIA.

I can't comment on creating the effect you're looking for, but I think for lightning, you want to look at VisionLab rather than EffectsLab.

Yes, while it is possible to do lightning effects in EffectsLab, it does not have the dedicated Lightning Engine featured in VisionLab Studio. So if lightning is a major reason why you are looking at the software, you might consider VisionLab as an alternative, if the budget allows.

If you have already settled on EffectsLab, and need to know how to create lightning in that program, let us know and we can get you some instructions.

Just wanted to say thx again. It would seem that Visionlab would be better suited to my needs. Ill be looking to use the demo as much as possible, but it looks fairly easy to use.

The price drop also is also another bonus, as I doubt Id have consider it at the full retail price. At least Ill have two months to see how powerful the combined package is w/ regards to my needs.

Are there any places online that I can go to see what can be produced at the very top end of the product. I mean are there any examples that show the most of what these products have to offer.

EDIT:

Oh and what is the very latest version?

Is another version due out? And can anyone tell me what if any release schedule there exists for Visionlab product? Is it once a year, once every 2x years... 18mths, etc.

And when is the next release out?

TIA

The VisionLab video gallery on the product pages is probably the best place to see a variety of high-quality videos of what VisionLab is capable of.
