Parts of VisionLab Studio don't work on my PC

I'm running on an Intel i7 CPU, X 980 @ 3.33 GHz with 24 Gig of ram with Windows 7, 64-bit version.
I only give you my box parameters to help you define my problem. There are parts of VisionLab that is not working. (By the way, I do have the latest updated version)
The "Apply Preset" box freezes the application when I click on any of the presets or hit the "Apply" button. When I click on any of the "information circles" in the "Grade object" menu, the applications freezes and forces a close. There may be other things not working, but I've not run across those issues yet. Does anyone have any insight into this problem? I'd certainly appreciate your help.

Can you try right clicking the shortcut when you go to run the app and select 'run as administrator' to see if this makes a difference?

Tarn. I right-clicked the shortcut and ran the application as the administrator. When I tried to view a preset where it shows the original clip next to the clip with the preset, I got this error message:
Program:...x86)\FXhome VisionLab Studio\Fxhome VisionLab Studio.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
Any help would be helpful.

I've just determined that I don't get this error message on every preset. For instance, I get the error message on the "2001" grade preste, but I don't get the error message for the "24" grade preset. Feedback would be appreciated.

Hmm, certainly sounds like something is wonky in your preset directory. Have you tried a clean re-install?

Hmm, I'd second trying that clean re-install, but also double check that you have the latest version of Quicktime if you haven't already.
By the way- that's a PC that can rival mine... grrrrr.
And I couldn't help but notice, I used to have the same video camera
Edit: just saw that it was only for one preset. Follow Axeman's advice

I have done a completely clean reinstall and still have the same issues. My PC is very current--ton's of memory, and muscle--and yet can't run this software without error. Should I just wait for updates to catch these errors? What would you suggest?

We haven't had any other reports of similar problems, so identifying exactly what's going on is difficult.
Does the crash happen with non-grading presets? ie, if you click the 'i' info button for any of the other effects engines?

The only part of the program that causes my app to crash is the "Grade Object" As I was testing - clicking the "i" in the grade objects - I got an error message "Macromedia Projector has stopped working". I clicked the "i" on the "8mm". I then restarted the program and clicked the grade object called "Angelic Glow" and I received a Runtime Error in addition to the error message about the Macromedia Projector. If I don't try to preview the effect, I can grab it and add it to my timeline without any errors. The downside is, I'd like to be able to preview the grade objects without having to add them to the timeline to preview them. Any help would be appreciated.

If you click the "FX" icon on the timeline, to open the grading browser and look at the grading preset options there, does it cause the same issues?

It does, Axeman
The app works for me; I just hate having an app, especially one that cost so much, not have everything working on it. I know the app works because it has worked on my previous computer. I'm just wondering that the app doesn't like everything about Windows 7-64 bit.

Hmm. It can't be the 64-bit Windows 7 that is the problem, because I can run it on my Windows 7 64-bit system without anything of the sort happening. Grade Objects and the grading previews all work perfectly fine. So it has to be something else, unrelated to Windows 7 or to a 64-bit OS.

Yeah, it's got nothing to do with Windows 7... so, are you running this as an administrator? Try right clicking the program and selecting 'run as administrator' just to check.
Have you tried that clean reinstall Axeman suggested? Also, are your computer's drivers (graphics...) all up to date? It probably won't be the problem, but sometimes that can be worth a try and it's an easy fix.
I hope you get this sorted. It's kind of a bizarre problem, but I'm sure we'll be able to help you out.

What is on your timeline when you try to preview the grade preset? Is it a video, image or effect?
If it's one of your videos, could you try instead starting with a blank project, then adding a CG effect such as a lightning preset or muzzle flash preset, THEN try adding a grade object preset to that.
Let me know if it has the same problems.

OK. Guys, thanks for all the support. Here goes:
I've completely reinstalled the app--as the clean install instructions specify.
I've run the app as the administrator and have received the same error messages.
My computer is less than two months old and I've updated everything that I could when I set it up.
I did try a blank timeline, adding something other than a video clip (actually one of the lightning bolts) and got the same results.
I know it's probably someting simple, like the nose on my face, just sticking out there, but I'm not seeing it. What confounds me is, some of the grading effects don't cause the problem, while others do. I'll keep scratching.

That at least rules out the problem being related to the source videos. I thought perhaps there was a compatibility issue with the video codec, but that can't be the case if the problem happens with the effects engines too.
Could you give me some examples or presets that definitely do and definitely don't work? Maybe we'll be able to identify a common factor.
As Axeman says, this isn't a specific Windows 7 problem as there are a fair few people running on that kind of setup without any issues. There must be something else causing probems.
You mentioned that you have 24gigs (!) installed in the machien. Do you have any other unusual hardware or software installed?
