Sure thing, grade objects are relatively easy. The basic concept is this: When you want a grading filter to affect more than one layer in your project, use a Grade Object. When filters are applied to a grade object, they will impact everything that is on the timeline below the grade object.

Also, if you want to apply a filter only to a certain area of your frame, you can apply the filter to a grade object, then add a mask to the grade object to control what areas it affects.
