With 2010 now in the past (seriously, did anybody else notice just how quickly last year went by?) it's time to get a little bit reflective: in other words, the FXhome Awards are almost upon us!

We'll have more information coming up next month, but in the meantime you might want to refresh your memory of all the great movies that were submitted to the FXhome cinema last year. Click here to filter the cinema archive listing to only show movies from 2010!

What were your favorites?

That's exactly what I thought, in the exact same words. I swear, we just had the 2010 awards.

Well, first off- thank you very much TURpodcast for the very flattering comment. I guess we'll have our fingers-crossed on Inebriation! smile

As for the others- 2010 was a fantastic year with a wealth of great, varying stuff to the cinema, and I'm extremely happy to be a part of it. So many movies, tests, and short films that set benchmarks and upped the ante the past 12 months- it'll be difficult to decide on one specific thing. (or several, for that matter)

Excited to see what the coming weeks bring. No doubt most have guessed we've got a stop or two to pull out before judging and voting begins. Inclusive of a rather large FXHome premiere of a certain video. wink

A lot of great videos have been submitted to the Cinema this last year, it's going to be harder than ever to decide. But glad that the Awards are back! A great community event.

My favourite is hard to choose because there's been a lot of great films this year, including the railer competitions as well. My two favourites which i can't pick between were ' the innocence of war' and of course Arms Race. I'm not sure if they were submitted to the cinema but they were my fav's from the ones that have been posted on the forums. Both films epitomised what films in general should aspire to do- entertain. A lot of films, professional and amateur's forget about the purpose of the film is to let the audience escape into another world for the time that they are viewing it, in my opinion both these films did this as well as having all the essentials of a good film- solid stories, great production values and, if necessary, great vfx.
The vfx of both these films were excpetional for me- ok maybe some of the shots weren't perfect but neither are professional films- what both these films did well was marry the vfx with the live action just enough that they weren't too noticeable- what i mean is they had vfx shots in the films but that wasn't what defined them. All in all they were the perfetly rounded films- for me at least.
Sorry for the quite long post but i enjoyed both of these films so much i thought i'd share it with you biggrin Well done to both teams who made those films and thanks for sharing them with us.

AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dang it.....so the contest is already started.....DANG!! I looked at this post and Tarn said that more information would be released next month, which should be Feb. I was counting on that time to finish filming my project and get in the contest!

Well I guess there is always next year unsure

Shame, I really wanted to have this done in time.

Alright then by vote for this year is

"Inebriation"

Second "Dawn of the Ted"

I can't remember what all there has been from here, but Sollthar's 'Art' jumps to mind as one of my favorites, so that gets my vote.

Didn't keep up as much as I should with the cinema, but it'd be cool if the cinema had an archive-like organization feature, like a blog, where it has the year, and month subcategories, so we could see what all was released and when. Maybe each month organized by the film's rating.

Does CX3's videos count? Even though they may not have been made this year, but have been uploaded this year? Just curious cause some of his tests maybe something I will definitely be looking at for the "special effects" nomination.

I will definitely be nominating Art, not sure what else, will have to have a recap session in the cinema.
