We have a single license aka 3 computer installed version of FX4, everything works really well except, we work from a server and printing in timestone software. The issue is simple I think but we have yet to find a fast workaround.

When we go to print, if we do NOT use the same computer we saved our jpgs from thru FX4, our backgrounds drop out? We have tried importing the saved job and or files into the other computer and the other computer fx software will not recognize the files in any form so we can not import them.

please help, hopefully it's an easy fix

Could you please write down a step-by-step instruction list on how to replicate the problem? I don't think I fully understood from your initial description, so a quick guide would enable us to recreate the issue here and find out what's going on.

Thanks!

We download and save our jobs to a server that is shared by 3 computers running Neo Pak Plus version 3

we import and export all files to this same server/HD

the only files we can get to print the exported backgrounds from FX is the exact same computer we did the FX keying and importing the backgound conversion on, all other computers print as a green screen backgound instead of the exported jpgs

we are exporting the files from FX as jpegs so I can not really understand how we loose the background during printing

I will be contacting Timestone and see if their licensing can cause an issue, however being a jpeg exported from FX and imported into Neo Pak I'm a little lost

I can email you some exported images if you like or even post a few up here

thanks for your help

ps

our memory mates are saved as png's

on 1 of the computers the FX software is not installed, the other computer when trying to import into FX the job saved from other computer with FX installed, we get an error message some of the time form foreground and background, other times just foreground

error code
"this image is offline"

That doesn't even seem possible. Either the background is there, or it isn't, in a jpeg. It can't store both the greenscreen background and the background you replaced it with. Are you certain you are not printing from the original file instead of the PhotoKey processed file? Sorry if that sounds patronizing, but sometimes the simplest things get overlooked.

But yeah, that is very strange, and perplexing.

been double checking it, I imported the files off the server too my desktop and that worked so far, the 3rd computer is in the sublimation room and it printed greens screen too, the PNG file Memory Mate was blank except for the text used in sorting

we will be updating our computers in a month, our server is windows 2003 instead of 2000

could not replicate it after I posted earlier, but that changed a minute ago

might be some sorta software issue on our end ??????

will double check all drivers etc... for updates on each computer, Nividia card driver caused an issue on a friends computer

Does your server do any kind of clever versioning? I'm wondering if some computers are seeing an older version of the same file?

When you export the composited image, do you give it the same filename as the original, or do you change the filename?

The offline issue is due to the filepath being different for each computer. You can relink the images by clicking the offline icon.

The offline icon works for our background graphics but not the actual image, will try renaming saved files and see if that clears things up.

I'm afraid oour server is probably not to clever at all tard , it's as old school a setup as possible, the server will be upgraded when we update all the computers.

any known issues running FX on Mac thru Parallels or can we change our FX software over to Mac?

thank you

Awesome. Keep us updated if you run into anything else. But I'm glad you got it sorted out and working properly.

Sounds like you may have been opening the wrong file accidentally. As Axeman says, there's no way for a JPEG to store dual information as you described, so the only real explanation is that it was a different file entirely. If the exported image and the original were sharing the same filename, this might be where the confusion was arising.

not by accident we recreated the issue several times, over several days, over several different computers (3 to be exact), I think as mentioned was the filepath as being the problem, the computer that did the fx conversion was the only one that would import the actual converted file into NeoPak, the other computers would display in Neo Paks software the fx converted graphic jpg BUT when it printed, it printed the green screen background as it was shot.

so somewhere there was a confusion by the software as to which file was actually printed versus the graphic jpeg file displayed wihtin the Neo Pak software

since we started totally renaming the saved jpeg and png files exported from FX there has bee NO problems at all

the issue might be how the server system is setup?????

so thanks for a quick response and solving our issue
