Presets don't appear in my toolbox

I just bought the Effectslab pro which seems to be an excellent software. I'm already learning to use it with ease. But I do have a problem. First I must inform you that I'm using a Mac. I've just downloaded 3 different presets correctly. Imported them using the Import Fxpreset pack. The blue installation ran from beginning to end. It all comes back to the main screen but nothing appears in my toolbox. I can't find any of the presets in any section. And when I try to re-install them I get a message saying : One or more of the presets you tried to import already exists and therefore was not imported.
Yet I still don't find them. Could anyone give me a tip or tell me if I missed something?
Thanks for your help

I've moved this topic to the EffectsLab support forum for you.
Firstly, are you sure you are looking in the right spot for the specific presets in question? If you can let us know which particular presets you installed, we can be more specific about where they should be located.
Secondly, are you familiar with the difference between Effects presets and Grading presets, and that they are found in different locations? this is related to my 'firstly' point.
Also, are you logged in to an admin account on your Mac? You mention that you downloaded the presets corectly; can you confirm that the names of the presets you were installing ended with the full .FXpreset_pack extension?

Thanks for such a quick answer.
Ok I downloaded the Saving Private Ryan filter, the 35mm film look and the laser aimer. After importing these presets I checked my toolbox and I just see : grade object, laser, muzzle flashes, neon light, optics and particles. I checked the grade object list and found neither the Saving Private Ryan filter nor the 35mm look. As for the laser aimer I can't find it. For your last question I'm using my admin account on my Mac and yes the files do end with .FXPreset_pack.

Thanks for that additional info. I couldn't find a "Laser Aimer" preset, and there are several different Laser Sights plug-in variations, so I'm not etierely certain which one you are referring to there.
However, both of the other presets should be found in the Grade Objects list, so if they aren't there, something must have gone awry in the preset database within the internal directories of your installation of EffectsLAb. I'd recommend a clean re-install to try clear it up, though you will likely have to re-install those three presets again after re-installing. To re-install, follow the instructions here
very carefully. Let us know how things progress.

Thanks a lot for your help. I did exactly what you told me to do and I re-installed it. Imported the Saving Private Ryan filter and the 35mm look filter. They still don't appear in my Grade Object list BUT I FOUND A SOLUTION TO THAT PROBLEM. I double clicked on the grade Object and when it set a purple line in my timeline, right clicked on it and chose : Apply preset. They were both there as well as other filters I haven't downloaded yet as the Prison Break filter and Bourne Identity filter. So that's great now I know how to use them.
On the other hand I do have another problem. I downloaded 2 particle items. The magical orb and the Kamehameha items. They don't appear in my list either. I tried the same thing but it doesn't work. Doucle click on the particle purple line, chose Apply preset but the window opening still gives me all the image filter presets and nothing about my particle presets. Any idea?
Thanks again for your help

Ok I'm sorry my mistake. I know what was wrong. My screen resolution was too high. Now everything's fine. I discover a lot of new things. It's great. If you could just explain me how to install and use the AlamDV2 plugins it would be great because it seems that there's a lot of cool stuff to use. Thanks

Great, glad to hear you got that sorted out. Your screen resolution was too high?Ive never heard of that causing a problem. If it was too low, yes, but too high seems odd. What resolution were you using?
You can't install the AlamDV plug-ins, as they are just stock footage. This knowledgebase article
explains exactly how to use them in EffectsLab. You can often find answers to your questions in the knowledgebase or the video tutorials in the support section of the site.

You must be right the resolution was probably too low and I said too high. I'm not sure about it. My resolution was 800x600 extended and i switched to 1024x768 extended and now everything's fine Thanks for all your tips I really appreciate it but now I'm really beginning to understand this software and I can tell that for me it's great. I don't know if you know this one but I was using ParticleIllusion. It has many more emitters but it's an old software it was often bugging and I wasn't very pleased with the rendering quality. EffectsLab Pro is much simpler once you get to know the basics but more complex and allow many more possibilities. I even imported a video with alpha channel into EffectsLab and it worked perfectly. I still need a little practice but I'm already on a short movie project and I'm sure it's gonna look very nice for a first draft with EffectsLab.
Many many thanks

Ah, yeah, 800x600 is below the minimum required size for EffectsLab. Anyway, glad you got it sorted.
I have seen some nice effects come out of ParticleIllusion, but yeah, as with any particle generator, it can be tricky and complex to use. I look forward to seeing what you create with EffectsLab.
