My fx vision lab studio won't render.

Does it complete the render, or does it crash/freeze?

Did you set your "in" and "out" points? This tells Visionlab how many frames to render... I'm not sure what the default in and out points are but you should check just in case.

1. Select your start frame and then click the letter "I" on your keyboard. This tells Visionlab what frame it should start rendering.

2. Select your end frame and then click the letter "O" on your keyboard. This tells Visionlab what frame it should stop rendering.

No the problem is, I am working with a converted avi. video. And I think there may have been a characteristic lost in the conversion.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it. But that is the problem according to the errors I'm getting.

The thing is, my camera takes Mov. format videos. But my program won't work with them even after they are converted to Avi. The Program just stops while rendering the 30th frame. And yes I have reinstalled everything.

Does it complete the render, or does it crash/freeze? You mentioned you are receiving error messages - what do they say?

The error message says 'hack string -/expected' when I try to work on a video clip. So, I put the clip on the blank timeline and then I could work with it. But then when I render It freezes at the 30th frame.

And yes, I have reinstalled it. No help there.

When you converted to AVI, what codec did you use?

The software should work fine with MOV files as well. What happens when you try to use MOVs?

When I try to import Mov. videos, an error comes up saying string expected.

And I have been using Avc-free Any Video Converter.

So basically, it will not take Mov. files or converted Avi. files.

There are also several codecs available to me with the converter. Only by using the codec xvid do I get anywhere, So that I can open the video with the Fx lab.

So just a re-cap. I convert a video to avi. the only format my fx vision lab studio is compatible with.

Then when I try to render it, (everything is in order, the start and stop times, so don't say, is your frames set correctly?), It freezes when it reaches frame 30.

And I use avc any video converter.

I have also used avny video converter for some other things that had nothing what-so-ever to do with FxHome. Therefore, I know that it has more than one video format you can export as. Have you mabey tried using a different format? (I have an older version,so this may no longer be there, but have you ever tried exporting as WMV?)

VisionLab doesn't work with WMV.

It does work with both AVI and MOV, though. This is probably to do with the specific codecs you are using. What codec is the original MOV using, and what codec are you encoding to AVI with?

I don't know the original codec of the video. I only know that it is a Mov. file and my fx program won't open Mov. files. After it is converted to Avi. it has an xvid codec. Any thoughts on that.

My video will render however, if i drag it onto a blank timeline.

VisionLab is definitely compatible with .mov format videos. That is all I use in VisionLab. If your original .mov videos had a problem, then it may have been an issue with the codec the files used, but the problem is definitely not with the .mov format.

A great deal of the HD cameras out there today use variants of the H.264 codec to create .mov files, because it allows them to write decent looking video to very small file sizes, but H.264 is not designed to be an editing codec, and that footage is meant to be converted to a proper editing codec when it is captured to your computer. I would recommend trying a different codec in the .mov format, such as the Animation codec.
