First time user.. When I drag the neon light effect to my video I'm able to do key framing for about 10 frames than the glow effect dissapears. Why?

Because the default media length is set to 10 frames. This can be changed by a tool, that allows you to drag an effect out. Don't remember exactly which tool that is, I'm sure someone will help a bit more with a bit more detail. My apologies.
Have a wonderful day/night!

That, or right-click and change the duration to match the length of the video clip, or the amount of time the saber should be present in the video. Hope that helps!

Thank you. Now I just have to figure out how to do the clash when the 2 lightsabers hit one another. Suggestions?

On the left, by the neon light, muzzle flash, and particle "engines" there is an optics one. Click on it. Look through the presets there and find the one called "clash" or "lightsaber clash" or something like that. Not really hard to find, good luck!
