Met the goal!! Although it was relatively small goal but still, atleast I got me some moneys.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1516961678/cosmic-villge-a-feature-length-film-visual-album

SYNOPSIS: One random night in October the Cosmos performed their rare tradition of choosing a sacrifice. They chose Marla. Now a young man ventures through time and space to find her. But before he can, he finds a small village deep in the forest of another dimension where he comes in contact with a demonic figure puppeted by the Cosmos.

I won't put much more since i'm basically just copying and pasting from kickstarter haha.

Fxhome is really the only forum I'v ever really been apart of so this was the first place I wanted to advertise the flick. Thanks all of you! Even if you can't help out it would be greatly appreciated if you spread the link!

Don't know much about the project, but by the screenshots I'm guessing it's surrealism?

There are definitely surreal elements but I didnt go into the film trying to write a surreal film. To me its more of an adventure film where weird things happen, Think "Psychedelic Lord of the Rings" haha. but if you think these stills are surreal just wait till we actually start filming the weird stuff haha. This is very tame in comparison.
Still from todays shoot!

Also we start building set pieces tomorrow such as 2 eight feet tall pyramids and I'm also starting on the costumes for the film along with building 5 fox masks. Ill post pictures of the progress.

Thanks i'm trying hard to make every shot dense and interesting to look at.

UPDATEEEE: Pyramids!
Obviously they're not done yet, but both are made so that they can easily be taken apart and put back together so we can easily carry them deep into wooded areas for the film.

Spaceeeee

This is a glimpse of the blackhole (my first go at making the effect so it'll probably change). It's constantly moving and flowing... a little hard to describe actually haha

Looks a bit harsh with the grading in some stills, but I realize you are going for a certain look. I'm excited to see the result.

I agree this is starting to look very interesting! I especially like the character in the woods with that mask- Has a very cool visual look to it. I was a bit unsure about the grading in the vert first pictures you showed but these latest ones show it at its best and i think it's genius! Good luck with the rest of it.

Thanks everyone for your interest! I've been working on this film for a little over a year and it feels good to finally be making it. To answer your question swinton a teaser trailer will be online within the next couple of weeks. I'll be sure to post it here first thing!

Doing some underwater stuff tomorrow!

So today i found out that filming underwater is very very... very difficult. out of about 50 takes we only got 3 usable shots. Although we were using a 50mm, hopefully it will go better with my 16mm.

What kind of housing/setup were you using to get the underwater stuff? What made it so tough? I love shooting photography underwater when I've had the chance to mess with it, and some viewfinderless video, but I'd be curious to know more about how that went.

Look forward to a teaser.

Since I have such a small budget I went with an underwater bag which obviously isn't ideal but I had no other choice besides building a housing... which I would be way too terrified to use.

I got this little number from b&h: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/17362-REG/Ewa_Marine_EM_U_F_U_F_Underwater_Housing.html

It was extremely difficult to change focus, see what we were getting on camera, the water was extremely murky so I had to be really close to the camera hence why a 16mm lens will make it much easier and since it was a 50mm lens I kept going in and out of focus . Also I forgot to get a snorkel...

The 2 shots that turned out well are great so its not all a loss!

Also a teaser should be out within the week.

Awesome, I've been eying those incase I ever need to get a shot, am saving for a dive housing. How is the focus/control on that? I know you said it was tough to change focus, but was that because it was hard to see, with normal control of the ring? Or was the ring tough to move, and camera controls difficult to access?

You should throw up a mini-review in the HDSLR thread, I've never come across someone who's had one of those.

When using the bag you basically have no control over the focus ring or any other lens rings. You can do all digital controls though.

Thanks Sollthar, the footage is definitely far better than the stills!

Another water shoot!

Hola all. With working on the film and the forums moving over to hitfilm I haven't updated or had the time to update this so I'm moving nearly all of the production stills and what not to the film's facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cosmic-Village-The-Visual-Album/197832643570497

I'll still update this thread every once in a while when i release trailers or things like that. Have a good day all.

ALSO: trailer coming tonighttt

Getting very close to finishing up filming, two more locations left! Although one will have to wait till winter as it involves snow.

Incase anyone missed the teaser/trailer the first time here it is: http://vimeo.com/26351762

It's been a trip making this film (literally, we've spent nearly $1000 getting to locations), it's the biggest project I've done so far and to be honest I'm surprised it's going to get made haha. So thanks everyone for your support!
