Do you have any ideas for what you want your logo to look like? I would make you one right now, but it's going to be in the shape of a penis, so if you don't want that, you should provide some more information.

Bradley - if you want people to make you a logo you're going to need to give us a LOT more detail in the brief. Otherwise you'll just go round and round with people forever because they won't know exactly what you want and there's literally an infinite variety of logos that could come out of what you've stated so far.

Concept sketches, examples of styles from other logos, information on exactly what kind of 'animation' you want...the more detail the better. Then I'm sure people will be able to help you out, or at least point you in the right direction!

Not if you want something specific. With the current information people would only be guessing what you want, and as everybody is busy they might not be inclined to try, as it might not be anywhere near the design you have in your head.

Can you draw a really rough sketch of what you want?

Considering that people are offering to do this for free, the very least you could do is provide a proper outline of what you want. Just above this you're making some else search for a font to use instead of looking and selecting one yourself.

Sketch up a layout or whatever and get it uploaded. Suggest a font you want to use, colours, etc. You keep mentioning that it's first person, is this relevant? Does it need a black background or be key-able?

Don't be lazy when people are offering to lend their spare time to help you out.

I don't think you should give up - what people are saying is valid (if you're asking for something for free, being prepared to put some work into giving a decent brief is the least you can do). I don't think anyone was trying to discourage you, just give you some helpful advice for the future.

But that said, the point has been made several times, so let's not hound this guy any further.

I can't do anything at the moment Bradley, but I have an idea, and can probably get something done this evening, if you're still interested.

Cheers,
Arktic.

Well, congratulations on having a very mature attitude. I'm sure that kind of approach will get you very far in life.

You can't close the topic, by the way. You need to ask a moderator to do it for you. I'm not going to close the topic because I've started to make this logo now, so even if you don't want it, someone else might want me to adapt it for them.

Cheers,
Arktic.

I'm not nagging - I'm offering to do what you asked someone to do...

You're a very confusing person. Do you sometimes walk into a coffee shop and ask for a coffee, and when they ask if you want a cappuccino or latte, do you suddenly scream "STOP NAGGING ME" and storm out? wink

Seriously dude, I'm going to make your logo, so chill out. People were only trying to help by asking you to give more information. They're not nagging, they're helping, so calm down and be patient.

Arktic: you missed the fact that he's using his phone, has no internet on his PC and he's using linux.

To continue your coffee shop analogy, that means he doesn't want to be asked about the kind of coffee, is ordering the coffee by yelling at the attendant from the far side of the room and does have hands anyway.

This thread is hilarious!

I have windows but windows is sooooooooo slow at rendering with fxhome! Please forgive me... For the font something like lucidia console or some think like that. And if you go to www.elite-productions.webs.com you can see my current crappy logo at the top and in the pic section... Again please forgive me.

Really?

Anyway, I wasn't really nagging at you, rather venting some steam. I do a lot of design work so have to deal with uninformative requests fairly often, it's just that you're not my client and I don't have to worry about you paying me or not so can rant without the worry biggrin

If you're limited on fonts on your machine/phone just look some up online. There's a lot of fonts to look through and it can be time consuming to find something that's right, unless you're using a standard included font on your machine.

I have to ask though, is it worth Arktic doing the intro/logo if you've deleted all of your video files?

Well having no viewer interest doesn't mean you should call it a day. What have you done exactly to promote interest in it, how are you driving people to view it? Do you have a facebook page for the film, done a production thread on fxhome, or anything like that which are extremely small steps anyway and still doesn't guarantee you anything - but is something in the right direction.

I checked your video out and unless I'm viewing the wrong one then it was just a few titles mixed with some 3d objects floating around, which to be fair doesn't cut it. It may sound harsh but if you look around at some of the amateur films being created today you'll have an idea of the standard you want to be aiming for.

The top boys and gals that frequent fxhome didn't produce high end amateur movies off the bat. A lot of people may start out by doing clone films, backyard gun fights or poorly produced star wars fan films. Starting at it with a project expecting high volumes of interest when you have little experience isn't going to work. You need to gradually build up your knowledge of filming, learn how to direct, learn/access/acquire the equipment you'll need and practice using it as much as possible on dozens of projects until you're confident enough to produce a passion project. At this point you'll be more aware of how this works online and have better ideas in getting people interested, and producing a film considered worthwhile.

I've been a member of Fxhome since 2004 and still haven't produced a video I think is worth showing, unless I wanted the embarrassment of doing so. I've learned a lot by just browsing here and watching as many films submitted here that I can and studied them on how to frame/grade/edit to a better standard. You even learn things from poorly done videos in the sense of what not to do.

If you're just starting out -which I don't know if you are - then there's a lot to consider and if film making doesn't look like something you're going to be extremely interested in at this point then it may not be for you. However you've already done a video so it's a step in the right direction, just don't be too disheartened if no one takes an interest at this point - things can only get better..... right?

I'm not the most experienced person on here like I said but that's my outlook on it.

Indeed it did, Aculag.

Here's my finished logo/ident, if anyone is interested.

If anyone else (who hasn't given up on film-making) wants to use it, gimme a PM and I'll swap out the text at the end and upload it for you to use for free biggrin

It's slightly too fast, so could do with being slowed down a touch (it sped up slightly in the conversion from PAL to NTSC). Made in a couple of hours in AE from some old projects I had lying around, some Creative Cow tutorials from years ago, I think there are some Andrew Kramer-eque Video Copilot widgets in there, and first info screen was inspired by something I saw on Vimeo once, but I can't remember who it was by.

Cheers,
Arktic.
